There are some events you just don't think to draw up contingency plans for...

We are still going to hold the event. I imagine that traffic should be cleared up by tomorrow morning. If it's not and you need to submit photos but cannot make it to Hood River to do so email them by 2:45 to fishing@kayakshed.com.

Are you going to look at exif data? If not, sign me up.  I caught a monster smallie a couple years ago. ;) I am sure I can photoshop in the token. Just ignore the Lake Oswego rowing club in the background.

Thank you very much to John and Langston from Kayak Shed for another awesome HOW fundraiser. Thanks to everyone who came out and fished in a puddle of your own perspiration. We greatly appreciate your support. We are already looking forward to next year! Congrats to all the big winners!

Congrats to all those that won and placed!! While there was plenty of catching I couldn't crack the 13" fish mark Saturday. Overall just happy to have caught fish, chat and meet some of you. I did walk away with a nice sunburn on my legs though, should've brought the sunblock.

My son Owen and I had a great day on Saturday.   I was really worried about the oil tanker fire the night before and stayed up too late because of it.  Rather than wake up at 3 am to hit the water before sunrise, we slept in a bit and hit the water at 8 am.  I paddled our tandem to my favorite hole in the area, made about 3 casts and landed a beautiful 20" smallmouth.   Excited about my personal best smallmouth bass,  I relaxed a bit and spent the rest of the day helping Owen find a dozen or so more fish including his personal best bass (16.75").

At the weigh in, we were some of the first to record my fish with Langston.  I had a pretty demanding lead and ended up winning by a full 2 inches, but I watched as Owen got slowly bumped from 2nd to 8th as a handful of 17" bass got listed.  He was a bit devastated until  I reminded him that he dominated the youth division (which didn't really exist).

Langston has some photos somewhere of everyone and their prizes.   Owen choose a really nice new PFD which was way too big but Kayak Shed said they'd make sure to get him one in his size.  A big thanks to the Kayak Shed and Langston for putting this together again.   I am super exited to be retiring my 15 year old Colman cooler and replacing it with an Orion cooler.

Man I'm just now realizing that there were 2 or 3 more people I wanted to say hi to that I didn't know well from the forums... it's hard to match people's screen names to real names and faces at the event - am I the only one who has this issue?  ;D

Well anyway, good to see everyone!

I could be snarky and say "yes" but I felt the same way.  I figure there will be other chances...

I thought the same thing! I did meet quite a few new faces though, so I hope to meet again at the next event.

HA!! Was thinking the exact same thing... I actually just changed my "Display Name" here because my screen name is one that's indiscernible otherwise.

I made name tags for the Tillamook Bay tourney. They were on the captains bags.  No one wore them.
I just think if we keep re-introducing ourselves at all these events, eventually, I'll still have a problem remembering everyone!!
