So i found some 16in scotty tracks for $1.00each so i got 3 of them. Along with 1 track adapter (amazon $15.00)
But i didnt want to put any holes in my kayak yet. But i was thinking if i have to put holes then ill use a rivit gun.
Or should i just screw them in?
Open to opinions.

Welcome to the forum!   :hello:  Tell us a little about yourself!

Use hand-tightened, self-tapping, counter-sunk, flat head screws or machine bolts(also counter-sunk flat head) with nylock nuts if you can reach around underneath the spot you're mounting the rails.  Otherwise use a backing plate system that Yakattack makes.  Rivets will work though.

Okay well im cullen,
Born in California but raised in aloha oregon.i recently moved to oregon city and got another kayak. Its a emotion stealth 11ft. i also have two 12ft rafts and my fishing partner and his family have a 17ft willie drift boat and a 23ft northriver scout. I fill a few tags each year but i want to get back into kayak fishing. Looking for any friends or people around oregon city. I currently dont have a vehicle but i can get around to most places.

Be cautious about using the Scotty plastic gear tracks for mounting anything which is subject to any stress, such as a trolling rod, because Scotty GearHead bases can be twisted right out of the flexible plastic track.  There is a link below to a YouTube review of the Scotty plastic gear tracks which shows this problem. Fortunately you didn't pay very much for the plastic tracks.  I think it would be safer to use metal gear tracks.  If you use the plastic tracks, be sure to leash everything to your kayak so you won't lose it if the Gearhead base twists out of the plastic track.

What is the "track adapter" you bought?  If it's a Scotty Gearhead, they are also not suitable for mounting the holder for a trolling rod, because the tension on the rod will make the Gearhead twist.  You'll need to constantly be re-aligning your fishing rod.  This is a problem when your rod is pointing to the right and the tension is trying to tighten the Gearhead in the track, but it's really a problem if your rod is pointing to the left, because then the tension is trying to loosen the Gearhead in the track. However, Gearhead bases work fine for equipment which isn't under any stress.  For example, on my Revolution I mount my fish finder on a Gearhead base.
