I have got to get out of this funk.  This is the worst I have gone through since 2012 in terms of lack of fishing effort.  Not even ice fishing.

Looking like I may try it Sunday....but who the heck knows.  I have been saying something similar every weekend!  I will say the chicken halibut report adds a considerable amount of incentive to the drive down.

Homer would have made for an easy limit for me if I hadn't sent my second fish back. My first 15 minutes on the water was cod, 'but, pollock, pollock, 'but. I got greedy and let the second one go in hopes of a bigger fish. After that it was pollock all day.

no love from the kings but the chicken report  was key. tried halibut for about 30 minutes and managed 5. kept a 5 & 10 pounder.  pays the gas bill.

Nice job guys, not a lot of people catching halibut limits this time of year. Are you guys seeing any of those mushy halibut?
Fishing relaxes me. It's like yoga except I get to kill something.

What makes halibut meat chalky, I've often wondered about that?

leading theory is lactic acid build up due to stress. warm water is often correlated to it but seems odd right now to have chalky fish.

managed a 10 to 12 pound king and maybe a 8 pound halibut. gotta get off water early. full report later.

Took a short drive down to Homer this morning and launched just before high tide. Trolled multiple depths from 40-140 varying location in the water column. Had a couple take downs trolling a coho killer ~35-40 feet down in 75-90 feet of water, but nothing stuck. Decided to try the halibut action, 4 chickens (15# and under) and countless cod and pollock. Saw several kings rolling on to so went back to trolling, this time trailing a herring behind my flasher at 12-20 feet deep. Finally got one to stick at 12 feet down in 37 feet of water (right in front of the condos) but in my excitement I tried to net a green fish and lost it at the boat. Will edit videos tomorrow and put something up. But here is the days take
