Does anyone target Chinook from a kayak around Washington this time of year? I just moved to the area and was curious if it was possible.

The springers are coming, The springers are coming!!  Spring Chinook in the columbia - that counts as WA.  Lots of info coming up at two Kayak Fishing Clinics for the "how-to".  Hopefully, more WA guys will chime in here.

It's a tad early yet but there are Chinook being caught in the Columbia and Willamette.

Hit up one of the upcoming Springer Clinics for specifics on how to catch em from your kayak.

Also, I'm pretty sure I watched one caught the other day just off Edmunds while taking the ferry across to Kingston.

Is there any other good reason to even own a fishing kayak? Is it possible to think about anything but targeting a chinook from one this time of year?
The answer to these questions is in my case a double "no."
And yes, yes it is almost that time of year when I don't even like being around myself because targeting a chinook becomes a pathological obsession. Look into it and you will find many many posts on this forum and everything you need to know from some very knowledgable kayak fisherfolk about where, when and how to get a springer. I learned so much on NWKA that myself, my friends, my neighbors and my cat are eternally grateful.

Just follow this guy around and do what he does, if that's possible! He nails some nice "minnows" for sure.  ;) I still think he needs to change his name to salmonmagnet !!  :notworthy:

It was all work Rory.  Trust me, I was wishing I had that opportunity.

And, yeah, what Mojo said.
