Do you think the Jackson Elite style mod or the S2S GTS expedition style seat would be better for KNEE PAINS while pedalling a Hobie Revo?   Not sure the cockpit of a Revo would be adaptable to either seat...

Sure, there's the benefit of butt comfort and back support with either of these seats, but I'm wondering which seat improvement might help knees??   It's kind of like fitting a bicycle - if you have the wrong angles, then riding is going to become painful, but I'm not sure how to "adjust" the factory hobie seat to address this discomfort.

A $200 seat change is a little cheaper than buying a new kayak -- especially since the accessories are just getting dialed in to preferences.

From what I've read and watched, seems that the Outback remains pretty stable and those that have done the modification are pretty happy. I'm not sure if it will work on a Revo or not. I have seen some posts on different forums about people doing it, but I haven't seen any photos or video. So I'm not sure how clean of an install it would be. I believe that INSAYN has a Revo that he has the Surf to Summit GTS Expedition in, and he really likes it.

I too, have had a sore back while pedaling a Hobie. I have had the pleasure of trying both the Big catch by Skwoosh and the Gts by Surf to Summit. The GTS is by far the better seat. The Skwoosh seat tends to collapse into itself, leaving the fiberglass support rods to poke you at odd times and angles? These rods also did do some damage to my Outback.

Whereas, the GTS is amazingly solid and extremely comfortable.. I currently run the GTS on my Revo.

The Skwoosh came  with one of those  attached tackle and pole organizers. I used it for a year and have since packed it away. It's placement at the top of the seat, makes it very awkward to get to while on open water. As for the attached pole holders, I would entrust my Barbie rod to their safe keeping.

I have an older Surf to Summit Airwave from my T-13 that has been my go to seat on my Revo until a month or two ago when I got my GTS seat.  I have both my Revo and my Addy Eye set up to use the GTS seat.   No more monkey butt, or back aches.

+1 on the Surf 2 Summit GTS Exped seat.  I recently added to support my back.

Awesome seat!

I think the Expedition has too much padding and you give up a little stability being up on that riser. The Elite is where it's at.

I would imagine a seat upgrade like that for a Revo would/could be much like the current Advantage CT seat. If there is some sort of retrofit like this for older Revos I would be all over it like a hobo on a happy meal!

Sherminator, Do you have the fishing pack on the back of your seat that S2S offers? If so was curious what you thought of that?

I do not have the fishing pack - I have the bare seat. I have my system worked out well enough that I didn't see the need for the pack.

Sounds like Sherminator skipped this extra step? Any slipping issues?

No slipping. The rear anchor points keep it from slipping forward, and the cockpit's side and rear wall keep it from sliding side to side or rearwards - the seat is large and pretty solid, so it doesn't have room to move.

I think the Expedition has too much padding and you give up a little stability being up on that riser. The Elite is where it's at.

I have a hard time believing 1" extra height affects the stability to any noticeable extent, but it does noticeably affect the cushioning. I respectfully disagee with LingBanger. (Probably the only use of respectfully you'll see in the same sentence with the name LingBanger. JK Anthony)

INSAYN - Did you also add Hobie seat pegs to your StS seats? Trying to get a feel for whether it's really necessary before I start poking holes...

No need for pegs with the Surf to Summits - they don't use pegs. You have to add two padeyes to the rear of the cockpit that you clip in to, just like for the side straps. You drill 4 holes per seat. Easy, and you forget about those damn pegs forever.

Awesome. Thanks.

Is there no way to use the existing pad eyes (the ones used for the rear bungees)?

I'll check it out when I get home...

I agree that the padding on the GTS does not cause adverse stability issues.  Even when used in my Adventure Island hull during sturgeon fishing.  Stability was just fine.

As for pegs needed?  Maybe.

On my Revo I didn't have any issues, but on my Addy during sailing yesterday I noticed the webbing on the rear  slipped a bit when I had the seat back relaxed to clear my head as the sail tacked over.  When the webbing slipped in the back, the bottom would slip forward a tad.  When the seat is in the normal upright, it isn't an issue.  I picked up a set of pegs today to have available for sailing.

Even though you can make the existing bungee pad eyes work you don't want to.  I used the existing padeyes and the stress at that angle tore the back of the seat a bit.  Surf to summit did warranty it.  I've been using the seat for about 5-6 years know and it rocks.

Any chance of getting some photos of the Revo and Surf to Summit setup, and also the Gone Fishing Seat setup? Just wanted to see how they look in the seat-well for size and scope.
