I hit Sellwood on Saturday for a shakedown cruise with a few other distinguished NWKA peeps and lucked into a nice cookie-cutter Springer while trolling upstream on a popular shelf in the area with a salty herring behind a flasher. Overall it was a pretty slow morning but this fish meant that the kayakers beat out the power boaters! Gotta love that! About another week or so and we should start to see some steady action. Cheers!

The current on the Willamette is generally much lighter than what you encounter on the main stem of the Columbia River.

Here's a chart from the USGS for the recent current speed of the Willamette River in downtown Portland.  Note that the units are ft/s and 1 ft/s is roughly 0.6 knots or 0.68 mph.

In other words, unless the river level is way up, you can go all day with out much effort.

No way that could be distributed. That stuff disappears very quickly once it's off the grill.

Crispy, grilled springer skin is worth fighting over.

Never show your friends how good they are!
