Behind the fish cleaning station in Garibaldi 7:30 to 7:45 meet to rig up I run 1/4-2 oz jigs with smaller then ocean sized shrimp style rigs and usually tie bare hooks and run 3 Berkley 3-4 inch rubber bait fish on them silcer and blacks seem to work best. I use a trout rod in about 10-30 ft of water, I run 50 ft of rope on the crab traps and have two extras available if someone needs to borrow one. Where you staying at dampainter I'm at the Oldmill RV Park full time if you want to stop bye for pre fishing advise and tackle discussions.

Great day for all that came no rain and I believe everyone cought a fish not all keepers but fish, I nailed the biggest black rock for me to date for the bay at 17 inches and couldn't be happier. I let duckdawg13 take my other fish as the big ones enough for our fish tacos and he drove up from Eugene. Only one keeper crab but one of our guys had a chicken bone that was way to big to come out of the bait box go missing before he pulled so we believe someone was pulling our pots while we fished.
Updated with pictures of the rig I used.

Mojo and Helium Head were fishing machines today. Especial congrats to HH, I love the look on his face as he held up a fish and proclaimed "That's the first fish I've ever caught from a kayak." He said it kind of deadpan, but he was grinning ear to ear.

Thanks again Mojo and dogduckgoose or whatever he calls himself for helping me deal with the aftermath of colliding with a pinacle rock 18" below the surface in 14' of water, at ~4.5 mph. Bent my brand new turbofin masts 30 degrees !! And poked one mast THROUGH the fin. I'm just impressed that while the steel parts bent, the plastic parts survived.

I now have a better idea of what tools to assemble for mid-trip repairs. Shannon McGivered my masts into more or less original angle (+/- 5 degrees) and I was able to continue the day - only lost about 30 minutes of fishing.

Right now my  biggest worry is whether other parts were damaged, not enough to fail now, but fail on the next trip. Or the trip after that.

Separate thread about Outback paddling coming in the appropriate place. Short Version: Oy.

Pinstriper, it was no problem on the tow. I called my buddy back in Hawaii on my long drive home to let him know that I'd "paid the tow" forward now. We had a good laugh about him towing me two miles back to shore when my outfitter busted a seat plug and started filling the hull w/ water. Shannon, it was a fun day....got the fish home and the kids started playing w/ them right away.....Mom wasn't to happy as they were supposed to be eating dinner when the fish play started! Great Day, nice to meet some new faces!
