Hey everyone, My name is Evan.

I have been talked into trying kayak fishing by a good friend of mine down here in SoCal. I am a US Marine headed back to my childhood roots of the Great state of OR after 5 years in the Corps. In the early summer I will be back in the Willamette Valley area and will be exploring the kayak community within the state. Set out to go with Heroes on the Water down here in the San Diego Chapter.

Looking forward to expanding my experience with some like-minded yakers.

Thanks Guys,
E. W.

Thanks you sincerely for your service.  You definitely have a good friend that pointed you towards a great PNW hobby.  It is really taking off around here, and fishing buddies should not be hard to find.

Thanks guys. I'm thinking by the middle of summer I will be setting up for a nice trip to the ocean beaches along the Oregon Coast.

I'm in Willamette Valley....look me up when you're ready to go fish.  I like fishing for kokanee, tame ocean trips, bays, fall salmon....   Lots of fun to be had.    Welcome back to the Pacific Northwest - the world is a big place, but we have it pretty good here!

Thank you for the Welcoming back. I am happy to here that you are in the same area as I will need some new kayak fishing buddies in that neck of the woods! I am looking forward to it.

 Welcome Evan,
Go take a look in the Events subforum for information on past AOTD and also ORC tournaments. Lots of things going on in the summer. And these are both premier events to get involved with. You'll meet up with many other kayakers and really get a foot in the door. Make it happen if your timing allows.
Life is short---live it tall.

Be kinder than necessary--- everyone is fighting some kind of battle.

Sailors may be struck down at any time, in calm or in storm, but the sea does not do it for hate or spite.
She has no wrath to vent. Nor does she have a hand in kindness to extend.
She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent

You have been gracious to afford the offer. However, I will not be back in the Pacific Northwest until mid May and I will be settling down with my family a bit, finding a house and interviewing etc. Although, I would be all for it on the other end of that business if the offer still stands!

Welcome home Marine! Evan, that is... You will remember you have a first name again soon! You have earned the highest rank: Civilian! Good luck in your transition. Its not as terrible back on the outside as many within the service would have you think. Looking forward to meeting and fishing with you in the near future! You will hit the ground running and be on the water sooner than you think!
