Hi NWKA brothers and sisters!

Our HOW chapter is going to crank up the year with something new. We're planning to meet at Netarts Bay boat ramp on 4/09 at 6:00am with Vets arriving at 7:00am.

We need to get waivers signed, participants geared up, have a safety huddle, and launch at 8:00. We will cross the bay and dig for limits of Razor Clams until shortly after low tide at 9:30. Then we'll head back to the launch, fry up a few clams, maybe boil a few crab. Have lunch and shut her down 12:30-1:00pm.

Thanks to brother mojo for lining up a few jet ski bro's to help provide overwatch on the crossings.

Bring your Oregon Shellfish License and any spare clam shovels or clam guns you may have. Also if you want to drop some crab pots before the launch to see if we can have some for lunch that's groovy.

A few of us are camping at nearby Cape Lookout State Park on Friday night. C-65 & C-67.

Dig show holes not fox holes! Who's in?

Do you need extra kayaks for the event??  Or wait and see depending on how many people are interested?

Back from our road trip - I'm in!  Will be bringing a couple crab traps; will look around to see what I have for clam digging.

I've clammed Netarts by foot several times; never by kayak. Loads of bay clams out there.

Sounds like you're going for razor's instead?

I'll be there with my brother (army vet). HQ at Cape Lookout has also expanded by one spot!

So, is this event open to anyone?
I'm not a veteran, but would like to participate (go kayak clamming).  I also don't have any clam equipment or knowledge....   Really feel like I'd be on the take if I attended, but I'd sure like to.

I'm like Barb. Don't kniw enough to feel I'd be contributing, but may come out for the experience so I can be useful in a future event.

I would love to help but I don't think I'll be in the area until later that day.  I'll know sooner to gametime if that changes.

 but-

Isn't the area closed to razor clams because of elevated domoic acid levels?

Unless reopening is imminent?

Wow you guys really do need help.   Netart's bay isn't really a razor clamming spot.  However, you can get all sorts of gapers, butters, cockles and little necks.
