Where do you buy milk crates? Will any grocery stores sell them or do I need to look some place special?
Enjoy the ride!

If you've got The Container Store near you I would check them out.  They have milk crates in a variety of colors for $10.  These are the real deal, just missing the stamp/brand that ones in service get.  I have one and love it (the one I bought from Fred Meyer was a POS.)

I see them at Goodwill off and on.  Ya may check there?

I run a shelter and every week we get food delivery, so I have several differnt colors and sizes here.  Let me know what size/color and I will see if I have one!

I picked one up at Target.  It's a little flimsy but gets the job done.

I need to post a how-to on adding net, flag and rod holder tubes. They increase the usefullness 500%.

Thanks for the tips, and Girlz thanks for the offer. Living in a tiny coastal town doesn't give me to many options for stores. I think I am just going to order one off of that container store web site which will be cheaper then driving some place that sells them.
Enjoy the ride!

I have a flimsy black one I got at Fred Myers.  Looks cool with the black rod holders, etc... I mounted to it, but I am not happy with its durability.  I'm in the market for a real crate as well.

Funny I mentioned Goodwill above. Tonight while the kids were in Tae Kwon Do practice, I walked over to the Goodwill across the street, and they had several office file crates, and one real dairy crate.  (Even says "Anderson Dairy" on it)

$1.99

My first kayak accessory and I don't even have a yak yet.
Soon, very soon!  I actually cashed out enough sick time from work this week, and should see the money in about 2 weeks.  Then I'm going shopping.   :headbang:

There's an umpqua dairy here in Coos bay. I'll have to stop by there and see if i can wrangle up some heavy duty ones. I'll post 'em up if i do on a first come first serve basis. Of course, you'll have to come down and go fishing with me to get 'em..
See ya on the water..

Here are some pixs of my crate. I bought it from the container store, but many an be had from thrift stores.  I used a plastic cutting board as backing for mounting the Scotty rod holders to.   Various diameters of plastic pipe were secured to the crate for storage.  They were either secured with stainless clamps or bungee cords with knots behind washers that would not slip through the crate walls.  The four inch diameter clear tube is sealed on the bottom so that nothing stored there will fall through. It's a good place to store bobbers flashers, divers, bait threaders. I keep pliers, lip grippers, a fish wacker in the 3rd grip pole holder.  There is a light for those early morning starts and my flag fits snuggly between the bungee cords that hold the plastic tubes in place.
Hope this gives you ideas for riggin up your crate.

Scott
