Thanks all who contribute to the site, seminars, clinics, and on the water. After learning all I can from you fellow kayak anglers, it paid off with my first Springer ever! On the Willy, trolling herring, green herring helmet, chartreuse flasher, and scent chamber with anise oil, 75 fow, line counter at 41 ft., 1.5 mph (water wheel speed not gps) Mine too, like Mark's, seemed to play dead but when near the kayak would make short runs. Definitely the best tasting salmon I ever had!

Beautiful fish. ...congrats!
Seems like a springers plan is to come right at the boat, then cause as much trouble as possible while you're trying to get them in a net. It's a relief when ya get one that ya can tire out while it's making a long run away from the boat. I think the fall fish are better at the long runs, but I've not caught a big springer.
Again. ...great job,great report!

Nice! I fished there on Saturday but didn't have any luck.

How much lead were you trolling with?

I had on 8oz. Trolled to the far side, up river a little ways, started back across and was hit in the middle of the river. This was on Saturday around 10:15 a.m.

BAM!

Just like that... another life is ruined.  ;)

I had trolled to the train trestle and was fishing there at that time. I saw one caught by PB'er while there. Im probably going to hit it again on Wednesday.
