I've seen pics of a few of your trailer retrofits, and also seen some very nice trailers at a couple of launch locations. I'm looking for ideas for a summer trailer build. With pre-damaged shoulders, hoisting my Rev13 on top of my Sequoia after a day on the water probably isn't the best long-term solution.

Thanks!
Dave

I know the car is an Outback, and the trailer is gonna we called "Way Outback", but if you get a Hobie Outback, what are you gonna name her ?

"Too Far" ?  "Very" ? "Weigh" ?

This is what happens when you can't sleep.

Here's my trailer.  Fits two Outbacks side by side, upside down.  I have since wrapped the bars with foam padding and secured the spare to the sidewall of the trailer.  Ordered the bars from the web for $100.  3" and heavy duty bars.  They are for a truck bed, but I was able to flip them around and make them wider on top and secured them to the trailer with 90 degree brackets.  I also put a gear box inside for all of my wet stuff coming home.

Oooh, may I put forth the idea of "Floaty McFloatface" ?

Somebody needs to name their boat that.

Not me, but somebody.

Very nice! I like the versatility of a utility/boat trailer...

Here is mine but it's a wobbler built trailer so I take no credit for the genius  ;D The trees come off in just a few minutes and it's ready to be used as a standard utility trailer.

Totally random question and unrelated.... How do you like the Mazda CX-5?

It's pretty cool. I commute about 40 miles a day so I wanted something that got good MPG but could still haul all my kayak stuff and of course the trailer. I opted for the smaller engine (2.0 liter) and a manual transmission and it gets 32-34 MPG commuting. About 28-30 around town. It could use a bit more power but that's the tradeoff for the MPG. The optional 2.5 liter engine I'm sure has a bit more zip. I've got a little over 38k miles on it and haven't had any issues. Solid ride overall.

Good to hear, my wife and I were looking at them and ultimately went with a Kia Sportage because the cost was much lower, but I still like the lines on the CX-5... Maybe for my next vehicle.
