I have domestic tranquility requirements for Saturday morning, and also the tides to me look like fishing from 1pm to 5pm is the thing. That kind of kills the NA Springer event for me with their 3pm weigh-in.

Anyone else not in on the event wanna chase some springers Saturday afternoon ?

I'm thinking Sellwood and upstream, but could be talked into MC.

This would be trolling, I'm not ready or equipped for anchoring up.

Do you prefer to fish the incoming tide or the out going? Saturday afternoon looks to be an out going tide.

I prefer to fish the incoming when I'm planning to troll.

My Saturday is booked solid so I'll be out there Sunday morning.

I'd be interested in exploring the Sellwood bridge area this weekend. I'm available either day, but Sunday'd be easier to swing.

I was planning on the incoming taking me upriver and the outgoing bringing me back. Thats why I picked the high tide and slack as my target.

At this point my Sunday is spoken for by my current wife.

You'r current wife eh? Haha.

You thinking Sellwood Park or the one across the river? Launch around 1pm on Saturday? I've been meaning to check that area out, so I'm interested. Will also give me a reason to get around to installing my fish-finder.

She hates being called that, even moreso than when I introduce her as "my first wife".

Location is open to suggestion.

Just a head's up but parking may be an issue at 1pm at Willamette Park (that's the big public ramp across the river from Sellwood Park). Not because of the NA event but because of the fisherman and pleasure boaters. Last year I went the Sunday after the event to do some bass fishing, got there at 10:30 or so and the lot was completely full.

ProTip: Don't park in the grass, even if 18 other people are. Most expensive bass I've caught so far. But at least you can feel good that your tax dollars, ramp fees, and parking tickets are going to facility that doesn't have their restrooms open on one of the busiest weekends of the year. (end snark)

I thought about heading out to Willamette park as well, and then I saw this post  :)  I haven't been out in the Outback yet and also have never caught a springer let alone in a kayak!
If you guys don't mind giving a rookie a few pointers, it sounds like it would be great to get out there finally.

I don't mind a tagalong, but I only got my first kayak last May, and last Saturday was my first time on the Willamette. So I am in much the same state as you.

There is room at the lot right now for trailers, the car parking is full. Not many fish being caught, tho. Fish checker showed 0 so far but we saw 2 get caught and heard of 2 others. Good luck!

Oh yeah ? Well, smart guy, I DID make it to Hagg today.

Or, almost. I was most of the way there and discovered I had brought neither my paddle nor the mirage drive. Both sitting in the garage where I laid them out while I was gathering rods and tackle and everything else I carried out and loaded up.

Today. Today was not a great day.
