A few of us Eastern Washington guys are trying to figure out a meet up place to fish with others in the area. We want to set up a kayak tournament out here, and we want to see how much interest there is in this area before we do. We want to do the meet up sometime this summer, and are trying to get a date figured out that will get the most amount of people. If anyone else has another idea for a good meet up location let me know.

I might be interested, depending on the date. I have some time in May, late June, and early July. What would we be targeting? I've never fished the potholes, but heard the Walleye fishing is awesome!

I paddled around in some windy conditions last October for a couple hours in search of the elusive Walleye with no joy.

Potholes is only a few hours away and I'm guessing others beside myself west of the Cascades might like this idea!  Does it get really toasty in July and August?

I have never been and live near Issaquah, but for a bass tourney i and a buddy of mine would probably make the drive. It would be a first ever kayak tourney/ any tourney for me. Also depends on date and how long the tourney is.

A tourney over there could pull me in... West of the mountains, but like fishing over there.

Yep, it can get pretty warm that time of year.   Any day in that period can and often is 100+.

Crow Butte might be another option.   Very nice CG and launch there, and it has the backwater area if the wind gets to whistling up the river.

I was thinking crow butte as well, but potholes seems like a good central area. That way some of the  Idaho guys wouldn't have to drive as far either.

As of right now there is no set date on the meet up, thats what we are looking for first. We want to meet other kayak anglers in the region, and see if anyone is interested in a tournament in the area. We felt potholes is a good central location, for northeast Washington, northern Idaho, central Washington guys, and possibly north eastern Oregon.

If anyone is willing to help with the logistics of a tournament, that would be very helpful. Please email me at tricitykayakanglers@gmail.com

If you have a Facebook, join the Tricity kayak anglers. I'm the admin for the page, and want to know the guys in the area. Not sure if you have met any of us, but there are about five of us that I know personally who fish this area regularly.

I need to come out your direction too, and get some of those Largemouth you have been catching.

I fished the potholes 2 weeks ago, and the fishing was slow but should be picking up soon as the water temp was 66 when i was there. July would be brutal temps over there. But Im in.

I might be interested.  I typically fish Potholes in the Spring and Fall.  Would be a fun meet up for kayakers.

Anytime man! Always looking to meet new people into kayak fishing. Surprisingly the LMB bite is pretty good around here, caught my PB 7lb largemouth about a month ago. 👍👍 DM me anytime you're headed this way.

Sounds like we should plan for the later part of summer or possibly early fall. We know ya'll have families that will be going back to school in fall, thats why we thought summer initially. Most likely we will have to plan a tournament for next spring, based on the WDFW contest schedule requirements.

I will be spending some time exploring other lakes in the area this summer, to figure out if another location would be suitable for a tournament.
