Has anyone done any pre-spawn bass fishing on the Willamette lately? I know the focus has been springers, but I feel like changing it up.

Was thinking about heading out tomorrow afternoon either at Willamette Park or George Rogers depending on any reports.

I asked the same question. No answer. I put in a couple hours by the mouth of the Gilbert. No love. I et Willamette park is starting to look good.

I didn't see your question or I would've jumped on that thread. I like Willamette park since it's closer to home also.

I'm thinking this week might be the time to put away my sturgeon gear and go all out bass. Willamette park will most likely be the place on Monday. Let me know how it goes.

Will do - Right now it's looking like I will launch at Willamette Park ~14:00 tomorrow - If anyone wants to join me feel free! I will be on channel 69 if you're in the area.

Was out from 2-5:30ish and fished the docks and houses on both the West side and East. Caught 4 smallmouth in total, 2 caught on a crawdad colored lipless crank casted toward the shore, but both were caught a decent distance from the bank.
The other two were caught trolling a jointed rapala in the rainbow color. This is a lure that I almost always have success with just pulling behind the kayak (in my limited experience.)

All fish were smaller in size, between 12-14". Unfortunately I forgot my hawg truth so I could not measure for AOTY, but they weren't big guys anyway.

On another note fish checker had 8 fish for 16 boats... Not too bad.

Here's one of them. Forced perspective makes it look a lot bigger  ;D

Also I don't make it a habit of just "lipping" the fish, He was only that way for about 4 seconds for the photo since I didn't have my trough.

The rainbow rapalas are a smallie slayer especially early season.
