I wish they had this class when I was in college.  Looks like their timing is pretty good for fall salmon.

PE/A 101. INTRODUCTION TO KAYAK FISHING

This class will serve as an opportunity to learn and participate in one of the fastest growing outdoor activities, kayak fishing.  Students will learn some basic Sit-On-Top (SOT) kayak skills and some basic fishing skills relevant to the Pacific Northwest.  We will then apply those skills during two full day fishing trips.  Topics include kayaking and boating safety, trip planning, proper usage of appropriate fishing equipment, rigging setups to target specific fish species, environmental stewardship, and more. This course will have an on-campus component (classroom & pool) and an off campus component (select fishing locations TBA).

Class meets the following Tuesdays and Thursdays: 8/30, 9/1, 9/6, 9/8, 9/13, 9/15; the following Tuesdays: 10/4, 10/18, 11/1, 11/15, 12/6, plus two full day small group fishing trips to be scheduled by appointment (usually on the weekends).

Prerequisite: Student must be able to swim and be confident in the water. (We will be wearing PFDs at all times on the water)

Fee: $50 – covers two 1-day fishing licenses and necessary terminal tackle.
