I will be in eaglecrest and plan on fishing a lake in that area. I was thinking of driving to Odell or crescent. I would love to join others if people are in the area.

I never make it, but the Human powered fishing derby in Seldovia is that weekend I think.

I will probably just hit the normal spots.

Susan and I will be down mid-day on the Friday before Mem-day.   We plan to fish Saturday and Sunday and fill our cooler.   We'll drag our trailer down, but it can't do the beach road, so that will mean we camp at Starisky or Ninilchik or ...

BUT we WILL fish WG for the Mem-Day weekend as well as the weekend prior - 21/22nd May.

Look for a Yellow and Red Hobie on top of a  Silver Tundra.   Hoping to score a few halibut and if the kings cooperate thats a bonus.

We're staying in Homer for the weekend, hopefully there will be a great marine forecast like the seas they had for the tourney on Saturday...mad at myself for missing that one! I'll be in a silver F250 and a tan Propel Slayer. Good luck and hope to see you out there.

We will likely set camp at Halibut campground in Anchor point and make the commute to either WG or Homer for gishing - unless launching in the shallows south of the tractor launch looks good - but I doubt the poweboat traffic you see launching south is going to be light / so may still day trip to WG.

Yellow and Red Hobies on a Silver Tundra to spot us.

Will be there Thursday night. Checked the bait and old have brownies hitting right now. Hoping the wife can break 50 so she starts looking for the 100. Funny how the growth of halibut fisherman are the same for all. 😜

Ok...so my thought process.

I have to be back in Anchorage late Saturday evening to drop the kids off.  So I am thinking about the following options for memorial day weekend with maybe an added day Friday or Tuesday.

Fri-Sat looks like my first option will be WG.  Kings should still be ok and halibut getting better. Decent sized tides with low tide around noon meaning I can drift South which is my preference.

Sunday-Monday.
May just head back down and continue fishing WG.  But I have two other options I am considering for Sunday Monday.

Lake Louise.  Fished it a few hours on Sunday before I had to head back home due to unexpected visitors.  Two take downs in 3 hours fishing at the worst time in the middle of the day.  One fish tested my king/halibut gear for about 15 seconds.  People are landing decent numbers of 15 pound and over lake trout and right now is the time to go after them after ice out which was a month ahead of schedule.

Seward:  I still want to spend a few days trying to get the sockeye's in saltwater to bite.  I guess the first run Kenai reds may be showing u at WG but I think Seward is the better bet for this endeavor.

Watching the weather.  will post once I make a decision.

Weather looking much improved from last weekend .... Reports from AP are that halibut are good and the Kings still striking in close.

I'll be there late Thursday - so fishing Friday at the earliest.   Might test launch south of Anchor point and see how the depth contours are, but still undecided between there and WG.

I'm planning on fishing WG on Saturday and going back home.  I'm not going to be able to get out of Anchorage until Friday afternoon.  Does anybody have a lead on where I can pitch a 2-man tent near WG within walking distance of sanitary facilities?  I don't need water or electric, but a toilet nearby would do wonders for my peace of mind.  I know I could camp at WG, but last time I was there I didn't see a crapper and I just have to wonder. . . . . where are all those poo-poo's hiding? ???  There's a finite number of acres to dig a cat-hole in down there, and I know it gets a lot of camping traffic!
