"Sport Fishing" with a gill net?

Is the cover picture supposed to be a mean joke; or am I missing something?
My wife thinks fishing is merely guys wandering around like idiots swinging sticks in the air. Many of my trips prove how smart she really is.

You might reference the whole closure of Puget Sound to recreational fishing but the Tribes are still gill netting.

I keep flip flopping on whether that pic is funny sarcasm, or a tragic reality.   It would definitely end up in the funny category if it wasn't such a real tragedy.

I think that picture is a blatant slap in the face to sport fishermen.
Life is short---live it tall.

Be kinder than necessary--- everyone is fighting some kind of battle.

Sailors may be struck down at any time, in calm or in storm, but the sea does not do it for hate or spite.
She has no wrath to vent. Nor does she have a hand in kindness to extend.
She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent

I emailed the director and asked for a refund on my saltwater license.  Curiously I didn't get a reply.

I refuse to believe that NOAA, WDFW, or the tribes are serious about endangered stocks of salmon while ANY nets are in the system.

Well even if NOAA, or the wdfw are concerned about endangered stock of any fish the tribes will still do whatever the hell they want to do. There is a tribal game comisioner for the tulalip tribe I believe who is in prison for allowing the tribe to poach something like 300,000+lbs of crab. Then there's the fact that every year nets are forgotten and when the tide goes out all those fish in them sit out in the sun, then are sold to fish markets.

As for trying to talk to the wdfw I sent them an email with a question about a rumor I heard about Puget sound having a short rockfish season this year over a month ago and still have received to reply. I really think that they just don't care and just try to make our regs as freaking confusing as possible so they can write a bunch of tickets and take more of our money. I'm sorry for the rant guys but these issues have been a sore spot with me for awhile...
