Got a late start since it looked calmer in the afternoon hit the beach about 7:45-8:00 took our time looking at the surf wated for Stevm and Monkeyfist to show up took our sweet time rigging and launched in some pretty good size swells I only took one over the bow. Chris was doing circles just past the breakers and having to use a paddle to turn so once I got a look I told him to drop his rudder all the way and ten seconds later I told him to try putting it in the jam clear so it quits popping back up ::) FNG. I took 4 blacks. While out there I fought the urge to hurl twice then shortly before we headed in I lost that battle. Watched the Romanian unknown paddler roll figured I was next but I landed upright and dry as did Chris.

a cold front is forecast to move in on Friday evening and bring rain to the coast on Saturday.   Not seeing this reflected to any great degree on MSW.

I'll fish in the rain any day, as long as the swells and wind aren't bad, I'll be there Sat.  Thanks for the report Mojo

Swells don't look bad but keep in mind I changes daily.. The swell isn't high the secondary isn't bad but you also have wind waves. We are making our decision tomorrow evening in this particular order ...1=Depoe Bay... B=Pacific City... 3=Lost lake (Clatsup County) above spruce run camp ground.

Sounds good!  Keep me updated on where you guys plan to go in the morning and I will try to meet up.  There have been some good reports out of both Depoe Bay and Pacific City.  I am headed to the store to pick up Dramamine and ginger chew and hopefully homemade ginger beer.  I have not been seasick in the psat but don't want to start now.  Anything else I can grab. I went to fisherman marines yesterday and they did not carry lancer jigs or big hammer  :(.  So I went with a various styles of grubs. shrimp flies, fake squid, and a few diamond jigs.  Anything I am missing?  I have tried to search but am unable to find it online.  How many hooks can you have for rockfish and lingcod in Oregon?  In California it is 2, is it the same here?

Thanks for your help!  Hope to see everyone out on the water.

Zack,
You can have 3 hooks in OR for rockfish.  If you have bigger jigs for lingcod, you might want 2 hooks in those.  I had 2 jigs with no tails yesterday before I added the tail hook.

Good luck,

I am headed to pacific city tomorrow morning to fish with others.  I will be leaving Portland around 4ish to get to pacific city near 6.  Is the parking lot easy to find?

You can google Pelican Pub and Brewery.  The access is next to the brewery parking lot.  I ussuallr put a note in my window that says " Kayak launch and retrieve vehicle" on that beach.

Prevents you from getting a ticket :) You can park on the beach next to the dorys as long as you are launching a kayak/boat.

Do you then have to drive your truck to the parking lot correct?

No, you just park in the sand next to the other dory launch vehicles.
