For you local Seattle guys.  Not a bad late season plant.  3000 rainbows at 3# each!

King County’s Beaver Lake to receive
3,000 large hatchery rainbow trout

OLYMPIA - Anglers will soon have an opportunity to catch lunker trout in Beaver Lake near Issaquah, thanks to the release of about 3,000 hatchery rainbows that average approximately three pounds each.

The release by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) is scheduled for the week of Nov. 13. The trout were part of an educational display at WDFW's Issaquah Hatchery.

Beaver Lake is best fished by small boat, although anglers can also be successful fishing from shore, said Chad Jackson, district fish biologist for WDFW.

The lake’s access site is most easily reached by way of East Beaver Lake Drive Southeast, off Southeast 24th Street in the city of Sammamish. Parking for vehicles and boat trailers is limited, and a valid WDFW vehicle access permit ( http://wdfw.wa.gov/wlm/vup/ ) must be easily visible in or on vehicles parked at the access site.

Beaver Lake is one of several westside lowland lakes open to fishing year-round. Internal combustion boat engines are prohibited on the lake. All anglers 15 years of age and older are required to have a valid fishing license. The daily bag limit is five fish, and bait anglers must keep the first five trout they catch.

Anglers are advised to check the 2006/2007 Fishing in Washington ( http://wdfw.wa.gov/fish/regs/fishregs.htm ) sport fishing rules pamphlet for complete details.

Oh yeah, Seattle is home.  But I'm in San Jose this week ... hey, it's raining here too.

As soon as I hear of confirmed plants in Beaver, then I'll think about heading over there.  It's supposed to happen sometime that week, but they don't say which day.

I really shouldn't do it but I don't want to start letting them think that they can tell me what to do all the time over at work.  ;)  Yeah, you got it!  I'm so there, rain or shi-...  wait, there's no "shine" at that hour.  But I'll still be there.

Hmmm  ... is there a park and a WDFW launch?  Meaning are they 2 separate places?  And which one are we meeting at?

I only know of Beaver Lake Park, which is no longer in the King Countly Park system, but is being managed by the city of Sammamish.

http://www.ci.sammamish.wa.us/BeaverLakePark.aspx

Is there another launch site managed by the WDFW?

I haven't been to Beaver Lake in years.  There wasn't even a park then, and it was only a WDFW launch.  The park was a summer camp called Camp Cabrini.  run by the Catholic Youth Organization.  I spent many a summer week at that camp.

Man, it's hard to find WDFW launch info online, but I found this at Washington Lakes  ... http://www.washingtonlakes.com/FeaturedLake.aspx?id=431

So there is both a park and a WDFW launch.  I don't care which one we meet at.  Do we even know if you can launch at the park?

I found this link on the main wdfw site....

http://wdfw.wa.gov/lands/r4accs.htm

I vote for the WDFW launch, since it will be right on the water.  I have never been to the park, but there may be some distance between the parking and the lake proper.....

see you Friday.

I saw that too, but when I looked at a map, it didn't seem right.  I'm hoping once you end up on Beaver Lake Road, that there will be signs to the WDFW launch.  Don't forget your WDFW parking permit ... I wish I knew where I put mine.
