Even from my short time here I'm finding many kayaker to be a friendly and generous bunch! Thank you for the insight and offers I hope to take some of you up on it soon! Really hope I can make my first saltwater trip this summer, sure helps to stay in the good graces of the landowners who let me hunt to throw a couple filets at them :)

Hi Doryman,
Have you checked at Scappoose bay Paddling center? I bought my Hobie Revolution there, and they let me test out any kayak I was interested in to see what I liked. They are good people to buy, and can answer any questions you have.

Ya pretty much the only decision point between NA and KS is who has what in stock. Both great companies to deal with and will customer service the hell out of you.

Thanks! I'll be sure to check them out when I'm ready. Hope I can find a used one for the right price.

Does anyone know any other places, online or otherwise, I might look to shop used kayaks? Given the places out of PC I like to fish and the water to cover to get there I think a hobie with a mirage drive is the best way to go...

I didn't know we have a hunting subforum.  I can't find it my self, but I hunt out of my yak every season.  In fact that is the reason I got it.  I have dropped a lot of birds out of mine.  You want a stable yak, and its best used as a layout boat or pulled up on the shore and used as a blind.  But folks do it all the time.
