Hello All,

The forecast is looking really good for Thursday.  I am planning in taking the day off and hitting the coast.   I believe that this forecast is worth taking a day off from work!

Hey Zach,

I'm watching Thursday as well.   Rain in the forecast for now, but if it hold, I will be there for an early morning launch.

Sounds great!  I will most likely be there rain or shine.  I don't mind getting a little wet.  my dry top and wader combo keep me dry.  I just need to remember to bring a hat lol

You should make a trip to PC to spice it up :).  If people are not wanting to fish in the rain and you are sill up to go I could join you at depoe.  I have not fished there and need to before ORC begins.

I like not launching or returning thru the surf. no 4x4 yet and don`t want to take chance on getting stuck there....plus no beach wheels. saw a pic recently of that place and the parking, what a mess. I don`t know why u guys put up that. some day I`ll find out but for now depoe is de place.

I had a 4x4 and still got stuck because I did not know how to put it into 4x4  ;D.  Many volunteered to push and I was able to get out with thetruck without 4x4.  I recently learned how to engage 4x4 and hope not to get stuck again lol.

I was on the beach and did not have issues with the parking lot.

The forecast is a lake so hopefully there will not be a ton of waves to fight against and it will be good practice for me to time the surf launch as my last one nearly flipped me.

Yes, the parking is a horrible mess, and the fish are all small.  I wouldn't go there either!

Just kidding, I love PC.  as for parking, most kayak and dory guys get in early and get out by mid day, before the beachgoers show up.  It's only a zoo when it's hot.  As long as you stay on the packed sand, you should be ok with a 2 wheel drive car.  I have seen some 2 wheel drive cars deflate their tires a bit on the sand for better traction.

As for no kayak wheels, we usually drag our kayaks from the truck to and from the water on the soft sand.  Pick your days for surf launches.  Also good to practice without any gear in the boat coming in and out of the surf.  Little Cos and I are going to practice this over the summer and see if we can surf our hobies.

Why would rain be a deal killer for fishing in the ocean?   :dontknow:

You already dress for swimming and then cook topside on the hot/sunny days.

I personally prefer overcast/rain over hot/sunny.

I'll see ya'll on the beach or in the water. Looks like a sweet day.
I was thinking about trying for a halibut if the weather/ocean feels good enough. If anyone has gotten one good enough to keep out of PC, I would love to hear about it. Thanks

I get a little warm in the sun and prefer the rain as well!  I am headed to Cabelas today on my lunch break and will see you all Thursday!
