Was thinking about sturgeon fishing up near bonneville since it's open on the 18th, but could probably be swayed someplace else.

I'm thinking to hit PC on Sat also. However I'd recommend Tillamook for your cousin if he(or she) is beginner.

Looks like the intervals are getting smaller with bigger waves. Thinking out back up plan may be crabbing and fishing in Newport, or possible shooting down to sunset. Anyone got any other ideas?

Seriously considering pulling the Fathers Day Card on Sunday instead. Looks a tiny bit better anyway. Sunset Bound! Any takers?

Saturday ilooks good for rock fish.   PC still looks doable to me though maybe DB is a little better.  I'd be in for one of them.

Though I Plan to get there for the first time this year, Sunset requires at least 2 days for me to pull off - if I go fishing.

I have to work and look at a wedding venue on sunday, so Saturday is my only free day. One way or another my cousin and I will be fishing Saturday at the coast.

Got on the beach at 6:20ish got geared up and headed out at 7:30 4 in all  heliumhead, both the Esch's William and Shane and myself. Started on the north side of the Rock and we started getting a few blacks and drifted out towards the can where Shane (on my boat)was catching underlings picked up a nice size bass, then heliumhead and I started trolling south ( on the west side of the rock) and I limited on bass with 3 at or longer then 19 inches. I was watching to our west as a large black ominous cloud was rolling at us ever so slowly. Once the wind picked up I decided to start trolling towards the northeast side of the rock. Ran into another NWKA member that just got out and I headed to the landing first. About 30 yards before the breakers I made a hard left turn in th mariner and lined up with the breakers and started peddling backwards...... I used the paddle to steer as the rudder is about useless, it was super easy to just peddle forward over the breakers coming at me and once I was in two feet of water I hopped out. Shane got pitched sideways in the big tuna and got dumped bit the boat stayed upright. Heliumhead and Williame did some nice surfing in the way in staying upright. An anonymous yaker came in a few minutes later and had a yard sale. All together a good day...... And of course once we were all loaded up tied down and in dry clothes it stopped raining, the wind died down and it got beautiful again. Mother Nature hates me.

Glad you were able to get away and go fishing.  I think you like that reverse on your kayak.  You'll have to rig a rudder on the bow for surf landings.  Nice haul of bass!

If anyone could rig a bow mounted rudder, it would be Shannon.

Glad you got out and got some fish!  Thanks for the report.

Wish I could have made it, though dodging thunderstorms doesn't sound like fun.
