I'll be out there with my 10 year old on the Oasis (red).  First ocean trip in the yak for him.

Hope the conditions hold.  This week there's been an early strong north wind every day.

Launched around 7 am ish 10 NWKA confirmed yakin fishing fools one unconfirmed free diver some lady fishing off s sup and one cheaper unidentified "person" that was wearing........... Yep ......... You guessed it........... A pair of gym shorts, bare footin, a wind breaker and you won't guess where his PFD was....... Yes it was in his bow hatch. After talking with him a few minutes about the safety rant hypothermia he ended up heading in before we did after being out there for an hour or so....... Hope he looks at NWKA web page and takes my warnings as education and not putting him down. I managed a nice cabizon 4 rock fish and didn't upchum in the water. Had a blast and seen SteveM nail a nice cabizon and a couple good lings, heliumhead nabbing his firs ever keeper ling and the sweeps were calm and the wind not to bad till we rolled in around 9:30-10.

Great morning in PC.  My son, Aidan (10), had a blast and caught a bunch of blacks. Great first trip for him.  Not quite at Rudy's son's level but the passion is there for sure.

Really great crew of nwka yakkers out there.

I agree, that photo is rad. The kid, not Shannon (no offense Shannon).
Had a blast out there. Couldn't believe the weight of the crab-trap. I'm pretty sure it had 25 keepers  packed in wall to wall and stacked to the roof. Really dangerous in the Revo by myself, but in the end, I'm not complaining, especially because I stayed upright and I'm eating crab.
Nice seeing a bunch of folks from the forum out in the water.
Cheers,
Brian

It was a nice day and probably the calmest I've had on the ocean in the yak until the wind came up.
It was good to see so many NWKA.folks, some I hadn't met before.  Besides a few rockfish I got a couple lings, and a cabazon that weighed a couple pounds more than the bigger ling here.

Couldn't have asked for a better day to take my brother to PC/ocean for his first time. He caught a keeper lingcod, cabby and caught three rockfish at once!  And yes, I finally caught a keeper lingcod myself.
