A little trick I was taught years ago is in conjunction with medication, focus on the only thing that isn't moving,  the horizon. If he starts to feel queasy , just take a few minutes to relax and stare at the horizon.  And ginger snap cookies don't hurt either.

If the non drowsey Dramamine works for you...you can get the generic "meclazine" from the pharmacist without a script, just ask for it. Much cheaper than the brand name stuff.
I believe bonine has the same ingredient as well.

Scopace pills.  Much easier to control dosage than with the patch.  Both contain the same drug...scopolamine.  Still need a prescription then need to go to a compounding pharmacy since the original Scopace isn't produced anymore.

I've also had good luck using half a patch.  Less dry mouth and other side effects.  But that's only for when the seas aren't too sloppy.

Yup, this is what I do.  Visit the doc, get the script, visit the compounding pharmacy, go fishing.

Done!
