When I've fished Chambers, I used the roadside beach(mud) launch a few hundred yards inside the estuary.  Fine at high tide, *really* messy at low tide...  Probably worth the 5 bucks for a better location :)

I am planning to hit Nisqually tomorrow a couple of hours before low slack, and see if I can manage my first salmon.  Look for a blue Native Propel out there.  Also a noob so you wouldn't be alone in that regard...

What, you don't like washing through chest deep mud?  :-)

It gets to be too much work hauling a boat through the stuff   :P

If you happen to use the park as a launch spot, I would park with your escape in mind.  Hard to get backed out of there if you are in a truck.

Anyone who thinks kayak fishermen are harder on released fish than boat fishermen clearly isn't seeing what I'm seeing every time I hit the water.
I feel like many of us are hard on fish unfortunately. Harder than PB's? I guess that depends on the fishery. Seems like less presence of enforcement equals less rules followed. I've witnessed many species flop around the footwell that would later be released. I believe most of that is people just not being comfortable working with a netted fish outside the gunwale. Because honestly, not everyone is 100% comfortable in their boats, and the idea of a hungry pinniped showing up is very real and scary.

The kayak fishermen I've had the pleasure of fishing with have generally been the most ethical anglers I've been around, that's what I'm saying.

I was out there yesterday afternoon for a couple of hours before and after low tide.  Still a salmon virgin  :-[ but I only saw a couple of fish being hooked by all the other boats out there, so I don't feel too bad about it.  And I didn't see any fish actually brought aboard a boat.

The flats was a fun experience for me, too.  Going out on the falling tide and watching ahead to make sure I was still in the creek channel, and then returning over the flats and flying over the bottom with the incoming water.  Saw lots of hungry-looking pinniped critters who kept checking me out to see where lunch was.  Got some nice photos, had a great day on the water even tho the fish were safe from me...

I'm headed down there tomorrow morning for the high slack, then likely again Wed. Any of you are free to join me. Note that high slack is a different animal though. You fight the tides both ways, and that's a lot of water moving out on the ebb.

PM me in early Oct if you're still a salmon virgin Jim. Garunteed I can put you on some chum 😉 They don't have the same appeal as king & coho, but they fight like angy bulldogs!

Polyangler, you said to check back in early October so just wondering if you or anyone tried the area last weekend.  Looks like a high tide toward noonish Saturday and I'm planning to give it a shot.  Would put in on the west side launch with a parking focus on getting out (thanks very much for the tip earlier as I trailer and know it's a small area.)
I'm assuming jigs are still at least one of the options?  Appreciate all your tips for the site. Have never tried a double end hooked jig, but will have one along...

Unfortunately I've not been out in the last few weeks to include the reopening of 13. Typically I'll fish coho a little further west using #5 Vibrax spinners, twitching jigs, buzz bombs, or trolling herring with a small (palm sized) KoneZone. Oakland & Bud Bay get nice nice coho runs, and personally that's where I'd start prospecting. Chum should be starting to show as well, but that run won't peak there for another few weeks, and even later at Hoodsport. With any luck I might get out Thursday. Depends on my homework load...

I'm feeling a little sensitive about begging for info, but not too proud to keep asking.  I pay off in brews or luches if we meet up sometime.  Are you putting in on the inside of the inlet at West Bay park or Swantown Marina, or maybe out further at the Boston Harbor Marina?  If the Nisqually area is slow, that's not much further from Kent...Must appreciated.

You're not begging. I'm happy to share honestly. A friend's friend & his wife picked up this pair in front of Priest Point Park yesterday on #5 Blue Fox.

I'd put in at Boston Harbor right now. For Oakland Bay, I use the WDFW lot near Bay Shore.

Would love to meet up, but I'm not 100% on when I can get out. Maybe Thursday or Sat morning? I've got lots of variables messing up the schedule right now, so I can't say for certain on either.

While he might have a great arm extension (my jealousy) those are some nice fish.  I'll do some recon and send some PMs.  During the week is tough as I'm still working to pay the wages of these "professional fisherman", but hope to be one someday.  I'm about 95%+ sure I'm going somewhere Saturday morning and that's pretty good evidence of where I should be looking.  Much appreciated, open for other company if anyone's interested.
Looks like about 1 1/2 mile paddle from the park to the point and should be pretty protected water...
Side note:  I see Pro Bass bought Cabelas, not sure it's good for us or not...

I'll let you know if I can make it Sat. If so it'll be early, and I'll have to be off the water by 11'ish. If I go Thursday I'll post a report for you

OK, looking at the map, see the Boston area and making a bit of a SWAG.  I'll plan on putting in at Boston Harbor between 7 -8 AM pending traffic and try the incoming tide.  It's only about a half-mile tween the points of Dofflemyer and Dover so I figure I'll try each of those watching for boats.  Hope to see you.  You're growing your lunch or beverage options if I don't.  Will have some spoons, jigs and cut plug to drag around. Look for a Holstein colored trident with a big net that wants to get dunked.
