Decided to give MA9 a shot after that last bit of rain in the hopes that the cooler, wetter weather might turn the coho on the bite.  Launched just before 7am in a slight fog and calm water conditions.  Coho were rolling and jumping right off the launch so I deployed a spinner flatlined and trolled out through the shallows.  Lots of weeds impeded the fishing, managed a shaker blackmouth, then picked up and paddled out of the weeds to deeper water.  Put down the heavier gear - diver, flasher and coyote and began trolling south with the tide.  A few jumpers, but no action for several hours.  Ended up at Apple Tree Pt. for the high change.  Jigged a buzz bomb during slack off the point and managed to C n R a couple nice 20-24" blackmouth.  Began trolling back north with the outgoing tide and before long was into a huge school of res. coho with a few large ocean fish mixed in.  First take down was a good one, gave a couple strong paddles to set the hook then began reeling... and... my reel pops out of the reel seat!  I quickly reattach it and reel hard to pick up slack, and the fish is still there.  Not much size to it, but it is a coho and it has performed the "coho death roll" wrapping the line into its gill rakers, so I bonk it and give the kayak its first blood.  Continue my troll and before I'm done letting my rig down, I've already got another fish taking my lure...  This continues for the next 30 min. , but unfortunately all smaller fish.  I released about 8-10 of these before deciding to move on.  The larger fish simply seemed uninterested in playing.  Maybe the power boaters out in the shipping lanes did better, but I didn't see a net fly all day!  Only evidence of a bigger fish being caught was back at the launch I saw a carcass of a @12lb fish floating.  Nice day for up there, little wind and the tide was tame.
I paddled about 9 hours, and discovered my current limit, but it felt good and I slept well that night.  That fish was just the right size for my wife and I to have fresh off the bbq.  I'll post some pics at some point, need to find the time to download them!
Cheers,
Jason

damn straight!, wish i could get some action like that. Got one jack  and not many more bites for 12 or more days of relentless trolling. So depressing i had to take a few days off and actually get stuff done around the house.
See ya on the water..

Thanks for the report Hook!

CBY - It's amazing what we'll go thru just to catch a fish isn't it?  For every one report I post, there are usually several skunky days not reported.

So true Z. You should have been there tonight. Rented my studio out!! so i went up to Myrtle tree at about 5PM and threw some lures off the dock at Myrtle Tree. Must have seen 50 rollers all around, some big fish too, but none were interested in my offerings.
Tried blue fox spinner and spoon and a buds, not even a bump.

Most of the boaters that were there were floating eggs on a bobber along the edge and i still only saw one dark fish caught.
See ya on the water..

ok, guys, explain to me why there is so much prejudice against the darker fish?? i hear and see that in print all the time, it's like they have herpes or something...they still eat and taste the same, right?

A lot of fish that have turned dark haven't been feeding for a long time so first off they're living off their fat reserves. That means the meat is drier. Also it means that the meat loses it's firmness and becomes mushy. And lastly, IMO, they lose their taste and get a bit fishy. It's not to say all dark fish are like this but it seems to be the trend.
