The 240 is slick (and on sale at Bi-mart) But the tides and currents on the Eagle 250 is worth the extra C-note. (the 250 is $200 at Cabela's)

Downloaded the manual and I don't see anything regarding tides and current for the 250...  Can someone confirm that it does include tide tables?  I noticed it had sunrise/sunset times but didn't find anything to do with tides...

Yea, I've never seen no tides in mine either. I din't how much that's saying, as it took me 20 minutes to find the track back to sunset when we were lost in the fog.

Hmm, on second thought i have my FF here in front of right now and in the map menu sub category "map Categories" it does have a option to turn on/off tides and currents. But i'll be damned if i can actually bring them up on the finder

That's because there are no tides in your living room Roy.

Spot,

Is that how it works?  Your location of the gps signal would reflect tides?  Or couldn't you scroll your cursor over a body  of water to get tides? Would be nice to be able to check the tides prior to leaving for whatever destination...

Or are you just trying to earn back that asshat award?

After what I've seen in the Political Forum today, I'd have to waaaay meaner than that to get the asshat.  ;D

I was just teasing CBCY.  I haven't had any experience with that unit.  I would imagine that there is a way to check the tides for a given location however.

I think Kalli and i have earned the first double asshat.... yes? brian?

but anyway, i just got off the phone with Eagle, no tides and currents are accesible on the Cuda. They all have the same software so it is in the menu, but you need some kind of nav chip to get the tides and current and the cuda doesn't accept a chip... Mystery solved

Coosbayyaker,

Good detective work.  The thought of calling them never even crossed my mind!  Must be Friday...

I think this might be a sort of easter egg that eagle/lowrance is not interested in you knowing about. Possibly not even in the customer service dialog manual.

I have not tried the eagle cudu 250 s/map or 250i s/map but the manual is exactly the same as the lowrance m56 (its lowrance twin). The lowrance manual does not mention anything about it either. All that said, MINE has tides, currents,  and no chip (or place to put one).

The tide is part of the basic mapping function. To find them go to the map screen, zoom out to a range where you can see the mouth of the Columbia, scroll over to it and zoom in to the 10 mile range where you can see the nav markers. Scroll around till you see a "T" in a box. scroll over to it and the tide should pop-up. Same thing with current and a boxed "C". I chose the Columbia because I know there is one there (actually a few)

Again, I have found not any documentation on this other than the mention of turning it on or off. The only way I found it was a salesman who was demoing one. I have not met another salesman who knew about it either. I bought mine on the spot and was VERY disappointed to not find anything on it in the manual. I was ready to bring it back as it violated my frugal nature. But when I hooked it up, there it was and I have been tickled with it ever since.

I knew she sounded too cute to what the hell she was talking about..... >:D

Wali nailed it. It is like he said, cursor on the T in the box and it shows the tide. Now what is that bar to the left Wali?
