I have been fishing Tillamook Bay this week with a friend on a power boat.  We started on Tuesday and each day the fishing got better.  Today I decided to fish from the kayak.

Just after daylight I headed to the ghost hole with about 35 power boats to keep me company.  On my first pass through the ghost hole, having just made my turn to head back down, I caught my first hatchery coho.  By 8:30am I got my second and was done for the day.  This was the first time to get my limit of salmon from the kayak.

Both fish were caught with a plug cut herring with a helmet and a six oz dropper weight.  No flashers were needed.

One of the best parts came while headed in through the harbor.  A power boat was just headed out and jokingly asked if I got my limit and was done for the day.  When I said yes, I think it caught them a little off guard.

Being retired, they pay me when I go fishing, therefore I am kind of a professional fisherman.

Oh hell yea that's fantastic! I always end up missing the hard seat of my kayak while sitting comfortable in a boat.

That's how it's done!  Nice job!

Thank you for sharing how you were rigged up Nobaddays!

It helped me a lot. I fished Tillamook Bay for the first time yesterday and decided to use your setup of 6oz and no flasher (even though almost everyone else was using one).

It was a zoo at the Ghost Hole (weekend day, blue skies, no wind and time of year I guess) but I managed to get a nice clipped Silver.
It had been a while since I landed a salmon in my kayak so it felt really good :)!
