Has anyone else out there tried these?  They are mighty good eating, and inhabit many lakes and streams in our State.

Normally I just wade creeks looking for them, it's fun. I just cut part of the top off a milk jug, run my belt through the jug handle, flip flat rocks all day, find'em, grab'em, and toss them in the jug. When I was about 10 grabbing them wasn't my thing, so I duct taped a fork to a stick, and stabbed them. That trap you have is far more productive than my method though. Great catch!

Nice! They are really tasty for sure. We used to have big craw cookouts. Definitely something I may get a trap for when I am out on the water fishing and Chuck out during the day.

Islander, nice haul, those are beauties. We used to do the same thing when camping in Eastern Washington. Fun and tasty.

Love crawfish (aka freshwater lobster)! Sorry to threadjack but last time I harvested some they all had some kind of parasite - like little worms on their body. This was at Timothy Lake. I opted not to eat them. Afterwards I read online that, like most parasites, they're harmless if cooked, but I was curious if anyone else had run into the same problem or had any info on how to get rid of the parasites.

If those freaked you out from Timothy, you should trap some out of the Columbia.  Back when I was a kid my dad would set traps along the Columbia off some rocks at night and pick them up in the morning.  HUGE and mean looking with blue bellies.  The wormy parasites were equally scary looking.

Once the craws are boiled or steamed those worms are all cooked, killed and flushed off the carapace and rendered completely harmless to you.

Bimart usually has the traps for about $10 early. I've even made them before.

That Bimart price sounds great.  I paid $17... at Amazon, because I couldn't find them anywhere.  The trap I'm pictured with, opens up and is easy to remove the crawfish.  The cheap $7 tubular ones work great, but it's hard to get the crawfish out of them without getting pinched.  They draw blood easily with those sharp, strong claws.....  I got even though, and ate them.   ;D

This guy on you tube was talking about purging Crawfish overnight. Do you just leave them in water overnight to clean out their intestines?
