Anyway, I think I may give it a shot tonight after work.

What time?  I might be able to swing it again tonight.  If I could meet you and perhaps get your take on my trolling speed and if you think my plugs looked tuned that'd be great!

Do you use a net for salmon?  If so i'm curious as to what size.  I think my net is too small, the coho would have to bend to make it in it all the way...

I don't know what time. I'm going to leave work early, bike home, put my kayak on my truck, drive down to Oregon City, buy some lures and hopefully get a couple hours in before dark.  Hopefully I'll be on the water by 5:30pm.  I'm probably going to launch from Clackamette Park.

As for a net, I use a Promar folding net..

It's probably a bit small.. 18" diameter but it's fairly deep.  I probably should get a bigger net.

If I didn't have to work tonight I would join you, its only 5 min from my house.  Clackamette is better patrolled and more open then meldrums. I don't worry about break ins at either place, but I drive an old truck and don't leave anything valuable in the rig. Don't beat yourself up if you don't catch anything, clack coho are notoriously tight lipped. The smallmouth should be aggressive this time of year too ;)

Especially before this front hits us.  Hmmm ... I might have to sneak out to a local lake tonight.

I kind of figured picking up a smallmouth AOTY upgrade would be a nice bonus.

The shoreline on the gladstone side between the mouth of the clack and meldrums holds some nice smallies.  Have seen some beauts in there when diving for gear.  Lots of crawfish in those rocks ;)

I should be in the water at that point, I'll be easy to spot.

I like that folding net, I found one with a really short handle and has a little clip with a bungie tether that pulls out from the handle, it's nice for trout, but I need to upgrade for salmon I think...  Not sure what the diameter is.

pelagic, I live about 58 minutes away as well.  Between Gladstone and Oak grove, let me know when your going to hit up the Willy next.

Michael Jackson????????????????

The official name of that lure color is "black/glitter", but my guess is that common use of the name "Michael Jackson" has something to do with his former skin tone and his famous glove.

No luck other than a tiny smolt or other small (6") shiny skinny fish that I shook off at the boat.  It was too dark to figure out what it was.

I did see all the coho surfacing at the mouth of the Clack.  It was really pissing off the bankies.  Lots of fish and none of them biting.

The sandy is suppose to be really hot right now for cohos.

Guess I need to do some reading and see if there are any do-able areas for kayak fishing.

I am not familiar at all with the Sandy
