They are everywhere

They were everywhere! As soon as Jacob left I went out again in the afternoon just as the tide was going out, and by golly, just as Rudy mentioned in another post, they we in close and easy to get! I caught my 2 in just a few minutes! I did everything wrong and still landed them. I had one wrap around my downrigger line, then around my net and was able to free the line both times and land him. The second one got wrapped around my rudder and then the line went around my paddle... landed that one too! It was a lot of fun and a great learning experience.

You guys need to get down here while they're so hot!

Woohoo, my new head unit is in! I'm hoping to be down in Homer a couple hours before sunset.

Heading down there at 11am. Will be power trolling due to running my downrigger cam and experimentals today. Can't miss me! I'll be the 16' flatbottom.  I'll take your pics for FB!!

They must have been everywhere for me to have a day like I did. By Jake's standards, it might not be that good, but I have my own standards :) I fished about 2 1/2 hours (9:15 to 11:45). I brought 4 to the boat. I kept one, about 20 pounds, and released three (ranging from 5 to 12 pounds). Also had two very light strikes that stole or mangled my bait. For me, that is pretty good fishing. I was using whole herring, brined and dyed blue. (I mixed clear and blue Brite and Bite.)

My best king, so far, from the kayak.

I kept 2 and threw 3 back, definitely was good fishing the 2 I kept were probably about 8 lbs every fish I got today came off a coho kill and a green trolling fly. I lost 2 on the downrigger then switched to a 12 ounce weight  30 ft of line out of 20 feet of water.

The sunset wasn't much to look at, but it sure was nice to have such a big full moon to fish under.

Very nice guys! Was on call this weekend so I couldn't go down. I thought about going down today, but with bad road conditions and a small craft advisory it just wasn't worth it.
