Haven't seen very much posted about Friday Harbor kayak fishing.

Aside from the ferry access, etc, how are the conditions for kayak access to Winter Chinook?   It's a long way to go to find out conditions are usually off the charts.

Can't do it this year but this sure looks like a fun outing: http://fridayharborsalmonclassic.com/.  Need a team to make this even close to being reasonable.  Anybody here have any history with this tournament?

The San Juans have really really strong currents.  You'll have to choose fishing time and location with currents in mind.

We've fished for Lingcod out of Sucia Island and made that crossing before. Really great trip. Never fished Friday Harbor, but we did cruise up there and stay at the marina a few weekends ago.  Nice little town.

I'd definitely take the ferry to get there.  Rory fishes that area a good bit.  Usually with a downrigger.

I couldn't get the link to work, but it is right and if you copy and paste it works.  Would be curious how far from the harbor/ferry drop off provides reasonable fishing areas.
This one (copied) does seem to work.
