Had a $20 Cabelas rebate, so I finally pulled the trigger on this device. Where has it been all my life!?! A must have for people who line their own spinning reels!! First time ever respooling a spinner with zero twist and even tension! Worked great for keeping steady pressure on my casting reels as well. Highly recommended!

Will it hold the larger drum style line spools?

Not sure how big you're talking, but yes. It'll hold far larger spools than the one in my pic

I've added this to my wishlist. I'm convinced that this is better than holding a pencil with my toes.

Awesome!  Yeah I have a thing called a 7 year old son to help me but he still doesn't quite get the concept LOL.
Will trade oral favors for fish.

Been using a Berkley winder for years and was reasonably happy - except you have to mount spinning reels upside down and it's awkward.  This looks like it works much better.  Christmas List!
The fish bite twice a day - just before we get here and right after we leave.

Nope there's tons of us on here just a matter of how many admit it >:D
I found it way easier to have TLW hold it.  ;D

That won't last as long as the Cabela's hardware.  Lol!

I admit the $20 rebate was the only reason I initially bought. After using it once I'd happily pay the $39!

So when I have gone to Cabelas or Fishermans and have had them spool my spinning reels they have taken the spool off the reels and wound directly on.  Besides the logistics of doing that at home, is that the preferable way to spool a spinner?

When I looked at the pictures of the "Ultimate Line Winding System," it looked like it would work fine for baitcasting reels and fly casting reels, but I couldn't figure out why it wouldn't put another twist in the line every time the bail on a spinning reel rotated.  So I looked at a video which shows the winder in action, and the device which holds the reel of new line rotates every time the bail on the spinning reel rotates, which prevents the line from twisting.  Pretty nifty.

But I can't figure out what makes the device which holds the reel of new line rotate.  For those of you who have used the device to wind line onto spinning reels, what makes the device which holds the reel of new line rotate when you use the "Ultimate Line Winding System" to wind line onto a spinning reel?

OK Pete, you cost me another few minutes today having to watch the video.

Personally, (and BallardBrad can attest), I have a tall blond hold my spool (OK, everyone was thinking it, someone had to say it, but I'll stop here as I can almost feel the knots on my head growing, and I still need help with new line!)

With nothing connected to the reel it looks like the pull of the line moving back and forth on the spool creates enough tension to spin the spool in line with the spinning reel.  Actually pretty neat.

Like the custom cooler box, it's the kind of thing you could need to build yourself for less if you were in Nome AK and there was a PCV pipe store within miles(sunrise 12:01 pm set 3:56 pm), or, if your tall blond spool holder ever read this....

(There's no way a picture of my spool holder is going here...)
