So its getting close to the time to buy a new Outback.

I know Hobie won't allow kayak discounts, but will any dealers throw in or discount accessories when buying a new kayak?  I will want the sailing rudder, large rectangular hatch and ST Turbo fins.

Next Adventure - Portland.  Good feedback on this site.
Nestucca Adventures – Pacific City.  I've never heard of them.
Tumalo Creek Kayak – Bend.  Been there once...nice guy.  Could use an excuse to spend a weekend in Bend.

Also add Kayak Shed in Hood River, Northwest Outdoor Store in Medford, and Waxers in Coos Bay to your list.

NA had a great promotion last year during one of the sportsmans shows.  I think it was 10% of purchase price credit toward accessories.

I'm in Bend and not that big of a fan of Tumalo.  Not really a kayak fishing place. In PC,  Nestucca adventures is a bit of an odd place.  Don't think they offer too many promotions.

Just my 2 cents.

I am partial to Next Adventure.  If you can make it up to the Sportsman's show they always have  killer show specials.

I got mine at Next Adventure.  I spoke with the guy from Nestucca Adventures in Pacific City two Fridays ago.  He watched me tumble through the surf briefly and then came and checked out our kayaks and our catch for the day.  He is a very nice guy.  His shop is right on the river in Pacific City so it is easy to test out the yaks. But, I think Next Adventure's Paddle Shop  in Portland may be a bit closer for you.

With pricing standardized, this is not a "deal" that you shop for. You buy based on customer service and support.

Ergo, Next Adventure or Kayak Shed depending on who has the color you want in the boat you want. I've bought from both and no complaints, other than NA is a zoo during their demo days, while Kayak Shed is a bit of a (very nice) drive.

If you need to try several boats, NA is more convenient to do that at their Scappoose store.

The "deal" is definitely worth looking for.  When I bought my new 2015 Oasis from Waxers, which was a last year's model a year ago, they offered me a $400 credit toward anything I wanted.  I got some killer stuff!  NA's offer last year would give you about $250 worth of gear on a new Outback purchase.  Hopefully they do that again.

I would push any shop to offer up some kind of deal on accessories with a Hobie purchase.

Exactly.  While all dealers charge the same for new boats, many dealers make their deal in other ways, like store credits, and they can be worth shopping for.  Like others have said, the Sportsman's Show is a good place to find deals.

I had better luck with the staff at NA Scappoose then the one downtown.  They were friendlier and took time with me at Scappoose and I wasn't even buying a boat just a sailing kit and outriggers.   I bought my Outback from the shop downtown and had them do the sailing rudder and turbo fin upgrades and a Hobie cart and they just rushed me out the door.  I actually had to ask one of them to help me out the door and give me a hand loading it on my car.  I still go to the shop downtown since it's closer and they have a better selection of accessories and I need something right away and can't wait to order it online.  They have gotten better at the friendliness portion, to the point of actually acknowledging you are there, but they're  just not quite there yet.  When it comes time to buy my next boat it'll be at either Scappoose or I'll make the drive to Kayak Shed.  If you want customer service, that's the place to go!

I've had good experiences with NA. As I hadn't pedaled a Hobie before, I visited the Scapoose location twice to test drive boats before buying. They were very helpful throughout the process, quickly installed some accessories, helped me load up a bit after closing...

The folks in the Portland shop have been very helpful, too, and if it was simply a matter of buying convenience, I wouldn't hesitate to shop there.

It sounds like depending on who you talk to the opinions will change. I have had good and bad experiences with NA, and in the few visits I've made to Kayak shed they've been fantastic as well. Unfortunately I haven't had the pleasure of buying a new boat just yet so that's a whole different story, however I am guessing when that time comes I will purchase a demo model from one of the local shops. NA had a 2015 outback demo unit for $1,600 last summer... Pretty killer discount.

Oh yeah, deals are to be had on demo boats or prior year models, but that is really a function of who has what at that moment. You can't say "the best deals are at...."
