Anyone who hasn't picked up their buffs from us, I will be bringing them with me so you can pick them up from me there.

Also I am bringing some extras to sell if you haven't got a chance to purchase one earlier.  I will also have some HOW vinyl stickers for sale.  $20 for the buffs and 5 dollars for the window/kayak stickers.

See you all there!

Anyone know if there's good fishing off the jetty or beach around there?  We're saying a couple of days so looking for other opportunities after the event.  Bass around there anywhere?

The beach south of the wreck has good surf perch fishing.

Ranger told me to go to crabapple lake for bass, it's almost connected to coffenbury. No luck on spinnerbaits for bass in coffenbury yesterday.

First monster fish of the day!  Chomped a little gold spinner as it hit the water.  The others were less aggressive but bigger.  ;)  No luck for bass in the likely looking spots, but first fish (3 total) ever caught trolling for both of us. Great day on the water and great meeting everyone!
Kayaking without wearing a PFD is like drunk driving.  You can get away with it for a while, but eventually someone dies.

Big thanks to the organizers, volunteers and vets. Had a great time. First time fishing there and was surprised how shallow it is. Water temp was 50 degrees with fairly good clarity so everything seemed good for trolling. The fishing was good for really small trout. Some of the smallest hatchery trout I have ever seen, outside of the hatchery. I had just paid $180 for my out of state Oregon fishing license and was already feeling kind of ripped off. Luckily I hooked a 15" homely hatchery bow on a mini squid and my $180 investment was justified. ha ha. Life is good. Scott

What a great turnout for NWKA volunteers!  Thanks Shannon for bringing your Native Slayer to try out - really appreciate you bringing the extra kayak and gear!  The body mechanics are definitely different than a Hobie, but that is one stable fishing platform I'm sure you'll enjoy.  We sure lucked out with no wind and no rain!

Nice to put some real names and personalities to those virtual NWKA screen names.

It was a successful first event of the year for us.  We had a few no shows for participants but it still turned out to be a good day out on the water.  The weather was nice and the fish were cooperating.  Just about everyone caught some fish.
Thank you too all the volunteers that showed up to help us out, we can't do this without you!  It was good to see all the familiar faces and lots of new ones too.
A special thank you to Mo's Restaurant in Cannon Beach for providing the great chowder for lunch.
Just a reminder, our next event is slated for Sunday April 23rd at Town Lake.

We also have a lost water bottle that was left at the park.  Anyone missing this, get in touch with mojo as it now resides in Garibaldi.

Great location for an event and thanks to Shannon, Ray, and the rest of the HOW NOC team! Too bad we didn't get more vets out there catching fish ... successful none the less.  Weather cooperated and I enjoyed catching fish with my son while he was home for spring break!
