Sounds like liability issues have canceled this event, but many people have cleared their calendars already.  I believe the dates are Oct. 11th & 12th.

Any interest in turning this into a general NWKA gathering?  I think it's a nice central location for the Seattle and Portland crews.

Bsteves,

Sounds good to me, I still plan on attending...  Will be good to meet up with some of the more seasoned fisherman and get some tips!

I may very well be able to make the drive down.  Still thinking of fishing Silver Lake or has anyone suggested salty options?

I guess I should have mentioned the location.  I was thinking that Silver Lake seems like a nice central location for folks from Seattle and Portland to meet up.

that liability problem is a sticky one, but there seems to be a solution in the form of event insurance from CIMA. at about $6.00 per person per event for working volunteers. still, i'm not sure which direction this will go yet.

but, yeah, why not make this a fall get together? the state park, seaquest, http://www.parks.wa.gov/parkpage.asp?selectedpark=seaquest
would still be 1st come 1st served if i understood it, for those who'd want to spend more than one day there, [ the group camp /group event site is on the right side of the road after you enter and pass the office. nice covered kitchen and cooking area too. plus i think there are Yurts for rent..  http://www.parks.wa.gov/parks/maps/Seaquest%20State%20Park.pdf

think big azz permanent tent that can sleep like 25! if you'd want to go that route for some reason] from the park to the kerr road launch is only about 5 miles.

sigh, i gots that weekend blocked out to go there anyways. so count me in.

Let's do it.  I'm still planning on hitting Silver Lake that weekend.  If the weather is nice, I'll bring the girlfriend. She always likes visiting St. Helens (just up the road).  I need to head south anyways ... got a kayak to deliver to Spot!!!

as brian and the pdx crew got the new New Events thread rolling, a thought struck me regarding us camping at Seaquest State park next weekend while fishing Silver Lake outside Castle Rock.

has anyone called the ranger station and reserved a site? i know it totally slipped my mind this week while tending to the daily grind. i think it's a 1st come 1st served basis since it's now winter schedule. just have to go back to the website and look.

Anyone from WA area available to carpool?  At this point I plan on making the trip, but it might be nice to carpool it.  My old beater 'yota truck can handle at least 2 yak's and is reliable.

Who's fishing when?

I'll probably be up Saturday morning with my 2 older boys and heading back in the afternoon.

Will there be any demo yaks there?

Since the "event" fell through, and I have a 3 day weekend, and my anniversary is this Monday, the wife and I will be spending Sarutday and Sunday in Astoria doing the Great Columbia Crossing 10k.

Now I'm back to the garage to cut my boat up before catching some salmon tomorrow am.

Good Luck,
Jay

crossing fingers and toes, the forecast for this weekend looks real nice, tho we are gonna be a bit chilly at night with temps in the mid 30's.
