Targeting trout.  Launching from the paddle craft area (just on the other side of the dam).  I'll have my VHF on channel 69.

1. Don't forget to charge your VHF.
2. Don't forget to take your VHF.

Not really much, although it's not too long of a pedal/paddle from boat ramp A. I will have my kayak on trailer likely launching from A and rendezvous with whoever near the dam.

It is just a big gravel parking area.  There is room there that you can park with a trailer.  There is no way to get a trailer down to the water from there though.  If you pull it off the trailer then cart it to the water you should be ok over there.  It is kind of steep going down there too, especially with the lake being  a low still.  Here is a close up of the lot.

You'll follow that gravel path into the woods and down to the water.
It's not that far of a paddle from boat ramp A to the dam either, and you can troll along the shore on the way down.  I just don't like to deal with power boaters at the boat ramps.

Already charged and in the car.  😀

I'll let you know tomorrow what I forgot.

Thanks for the generous invite.  I almost came, but kids had a birthday party to go to.  Please let me know how the fishing was!  I went out on battleground lake yesterday.  Water temp 43 degrees.  Recent plant of 2K fish.  Fish caught mostly from shore in the AM by the regulars, who were casting water bobbers + artificial worms.  But the fishing was far from great, and the few boats out didn't do well.  I hear the ideal water temp is 49-60 degrees when the trout really start chasing stuff.

Fishing wasn't good today from the kayak.  I missed a bunch and they all bit on Power Bait tossed towards the bank.  I had one hit on the troll but didn't stick.  It hit like a train!  I think the kayak fishing for Hagg Lake is a no go for me till the water cleans up some.  Even with a flasher I don't think they can find the bait.
You'd be better off just fishing from the bank.

Yep, not a good start to 2017, 2 trips, 0 fish from the yak.
Hopefully that will change next week.

Did you end up fishing near the dam?  I was planning on a trip to Hagg tomorrow.  Maybe time for a Plan B?

If you go to Hagg and you plan on fishing from your yak, go from the paddle craft launch area an just go out into that cove a little ways and just drop some powerbait to the bottom on a slip sinker setup.  Maybe take a small anchor so you can hold position in the wind.  I had most of my hits doing that (minus the anchor).  Or better yet, just fish from the bank.

I saw you leaving the Walmart in Cornelius when I was on my way to the lake.  I ran into another guy in a red revo, but I forgot to get his name.

Yeah I had to pickup a fuse, my trailer wiring shorted it out, fixed it but didn't have a fuse to replace the one that blew.

It was sour squid out there on his revo, I met him prior to leaving. Sorry to hear you didn't have much luck.
