I was asked to rejoin ....   I am still happy to be here ..and have already got to talk to some really awesome people.  Things got way out of hand the first time.  I was excited to join and maybe was over excited and didn't explain myself well enough and things were taken out of context and some nerves were touched.    Not really knowing how to go about asking if people were going to halibut fish and can a person possibly fish with people so that a person is safe, I tried to ask .   So .. sorry for any misunderstandings I may have caused .  Either way .  I look forward to meeting people in the future!  Some trips have already been set up and I am looking forward to meeting new friends.

Welcome back.  Hope you find a halibut.  I'm happy to hear you've found some folks to fish with.

I don't know where the halibut are but I can get you on some crappie if you are ever out in Eastern Oregon.

If you know what to look for as far as ocean conditions, and you have all of the proper safety equipment you can figure it out, though I don't recommend it. Last year was my first year with a kayak. We went out damn near every weekend. I've been fishing on the ocean with my dad (in a boat) forever, so as far as conditions go we had a basic idea what to look for. The ocean on a kayak is a whole new ballgame though, that's for sure. We didn't have experienced guys to go with. We definitely took our lumps. Watch lots of surf launching tutorials, and read, read, read. Try to stay close to capes that block wind at first. If you have people willing to go with you take full advantage! Good luck!

Good to see you back.   8)

In time as you participate in discussions here and as well as show up to various posted outings, people can get to know you, your setup and understand your personal kayak fishing skills.  From there you will make some really great friends that you can call on and meet up year round.

Halibut are one of those fish that takes much more skill to fish for and deal with than most other fish in the PNW.
Give it time for folks to fish with you and get a feel for your skills.  It took me 6 years here before I was personally ready, let alone trusted to be invited to join anyone for halibut and I am going on my 9th year kayak fishing with this group.
