Looking for some suggestions for Eastern WA walleye, especially Moses Lake during mid-April.  Fished them for years in WI and the bait/gear seems no different here, except it's warmer:-)
Thinking of the Parker Horn channel where hwy 17 crosses.  Could put in lower, paddle up and drift back down to Crest Island.  Any experience?  Thinking toward April 15/16, maybe 22-23 on a long one day trip.
Torn between this and Neah Bay...while it's a time issue, also watching the weather.

I'm starting to plan a trip over Friday the 14th and arrive at the N Stratford Bridge about 6 PM.  I have a place to put in and will test the waters that evening and try again Saturday morning till noonish.  Will likely be bringing a yellow-topped Seaward Tyee sit in as I can cover a lot of water pretty quickly and it's stable enough to try a variety of light jigs tipped with nigh crawlers paddling up river toward Hwy 17 and drifting back bumping along the bottom toward Crest Island.  Haven't been there before so just an exploratory trip and will report back.  Local tackle shop said the river will be improving but is fishable now.  Can't really tell on Google if there are any spillways in that section.  Any other suggestions are appreciated.

I haven't spent much time on Moses, but typically I am getting walleye from the Lind Coulee area of Potholes tight now.  With the extreme weather we had this year, everything seems to be a few weeks later this season.  I am hoping to be out on the Lind Coulee before you arrive, I will let you know how I do. If you have any questions about where to fish the coulee or launch on the coulee, shoot me a PM and I will help the best I can.
Good luck, tight lines....

Coulee, I would definitely appreciate an update.  I fished the area by the dam with BallardBrad last year so I know where it is and have some good ideas.  We also fished with a really nice group of yak fellows from the tri-cities.
Jimbob45 has provided some great suggestions and I made contact with some of the Fish and Game folks from Euphrata and Yakima.  I was very impressed with their willingness to provide as much detail about several areas as I could have hoped for.  Jimbob45 has also shared some great ideas for other small lakes I'll be saving for a bit later.  Everyone has mentioned this year is a bit late all over.

The current is not (reported to be) flowing much by hwy 17 in Moses, which seems to be the area of choice for spring eeyes.  Unless something drastic happens I'll leave Friday and get to the hwy 17 bridge by say 6 PM.  I'm bringing a stable 17' sit in that will allow me to cover some water pretty quickly.  I want to head upstream until I find a current and work the area that PM.  I'll drift south vertical drift jigging hoping to find some schools.  I'm told there is some work being done on the irrigation canals which accounts for the slow flow and lack of a focused group of yellow-eyes.  By dark I'll head back (or have drifted back)to the bridge, take out and grab a local hotel.  Might head back out and do some real late night crawler bouncing from shore.  Saturday AM I'll hope to return to where I caught fish or continue the hunt and try to hang till noonish and then have to run back to the west side.
Really nice to have some good suggestions, many came by PM.  Hope to have a nice fish fry Saturday night.

Just fished the potholes Wednesday, and walleye is fairly slow right now. The water temps have been around 50-54 on the surface, but that could change with the bad weather we have been getting. From the report that we were given before we went out, the walleyes are spawning and the bite is slow. There are still some to be caught, but I just wouldn't expect it to be on fire. There are some BIG trout and bass being caught right now, so if you decided you wanted to switch over it should be fun. I would meet up with you, but we have a bass tournament in Oregon that weekend. Good luck and have fun!!

jpodyssey, thanks for the update and I'll do the same.  Plan remains the same, try to put in on the west side of the North Stratford bridge about 5-6 and paddle north until I find some flowing water.  Might be a 1-2 miles or so up.  Will paddle up quickly and start jigging/casting rapalas as I drift down until I hit the mother load (gotta be optimistic).  Will take out at 0dark30 and might try some bank fishing till later on.  Will be spending the night in a local "economy" hotel and plan to hit it again about sunrise and will need to be on the road back by 11:30 or so.  Will be in a yellow topped 17ft Seward if anyone happens to be along the way.  Also planning some day trips south and east of Euphrata about 45 minutes on some small lakes that Jimbob45 (new member) has suggested in a PM.  Will stay in touch.

I fished Banks for walleye a couple weeks ago. Still very slow and a far cry from what it was last year at this time. The guides started posting a few fish in the week or so but no big stringers yet.

The only consistent place right now for eastern WA walleye is Lake Roosevelt.

I had a chance to fish Banks Sunday night for a few hours, it was more of a test peddle of my new outback.... No fish, and I was showing a surface temp on my finder of 42. Really cold for this time of year.
I have Friday off, as long as the weather is not too brutal I still plan to fish Moses or potholes. I will let you know how it goes and where (if) I was successful. Look for a camo outback, if fishing is decent I may still be there when you launch...!

Left about 1 PM and hit a good snowstorm on the pass.  Coulee Kayaker called and said he had tried the area by the Stafford bridge but was blown off the water and was heading home. I suspected the same fate after getting passed by a tumbleweed going down I-90.  Moved around and talked with some bank fisherman and found walleye were still absent.  I'd guess 3-4 were caught between 4 AM and mid-night by a lot of anglers.  Tried Mar Don and found 2-3 foot waves and bass tourni-boats were coming in.  Did learn there's a WFG launch between the state park and Mar Don's that's free with a license and discovery pass.  Saturday AM tried heading down toward Mesa looking for a no-name lake Jim suggested but there was some traffic on the irrigation road and didn't feel good about getting in the middle of it for a short fish.  Headed back to Moses Lake and checked out the Blue Heron park.  One large typical boat launch and an area near I-90 for wheeled launches.  Didn't gt a chance to head down Sand Dune road to the ML spillway, but that might have been a better choice given the wind or even going down Road C NE and getting down into the sand dunes and out of the wind.  So, not a bad day or so, Pot Holes walleye continue to be a goal and will check in with Coulee and Jim next time.
