met up with crash in port orford sat at the humbug mtn state park, went into town and had dinner, picked his brain about fishing and ocean kayaking. sunday morning at the port, tinker showed up, hell of a nice guy, was such a pleasure to have met with crash and tinker on my first trip out in the ocean, the water was prety calm , the launch was perfect i think, we peddled out around the point , up the coast bout a half mile or so, fishing wasnt to good, got two good blacks that were keepers, a few small blue rock fish, crash got a couple nice lings an some rock fish, than the wind started out of the south, got a bit choppy so we headed back.landing was no problem, al in al i had a blast, still have a big grin from ear to ear, cant wait to do it again.
thanks tinker for the pics an the lancer jigs, hope to meet up again, thanks crash for everything, i learned a lot and have a lot more to learn,.. ;D ;D ;D

Right on man.  I had a blast.  The fishing was actually pretty good right at slack tide, jsut as the wind came up.  I couldn't keep them off.

Looking forward to the next time.

Didyou get any good video clips?

It was good to meet you and fun to be there when you guys launched.  You bloodied the boat?  Well done!

P.S.  It's never necessary to let your guide catch the big fish... a simple thank you is enough.

Sounds like a successful salt trip!! I was tempted into going Sunday, but after fishing Saturday I figured it would be best to hang at home Sunday.

Now, that's my size of waves for a surf launch!  Congrats Danr, it's a great feeling of accomplishment to actually do it, and really does blow peoples minds that crazies are out there on kayaks.  And an amazing bunch of people you get to share it with.

Well, crash is a great guy.  Me?  I still have a headache from putting on my "nice guy" act.

If you can't go along with someone for their first trip, it's almost as much fun to be there when they launch for the first time.  Thank you both for letting me know, so I could be down on the beach.

They have the new Hobie 180 paddle system.

That's too funny!
