Just got a note from a Homer resident who was sitting at the Anchor Point boat launch one hour ago...9:30am....and saw a BIG king jump out off the beach. Sharpen those hooks. Cold water or not, hooligan and kings seem to be right on schedule!!!

Sweet!  Not sure if I can make it down this weekend due to work.  Homer looks ok, WG not so much. Strange weather.

Alright! Way to go Mak2014.  Maybe this will get your blood pumping a bit more.  I can't drive to Kenai from Soldotna without checking the river in the tidal zone going one way and stopping by Sport Lake on the loop back home. Just shot these pics at the lake a few minutes ago. I give it a week or less to have enough open water to drop my kayak in and work on some stocked chinooks and rainbows. Just a couple days ago on Monday there were still guys fishing on 12 inches of solid ice. Now its barely supporting the seagulls. Dang I'm getting itchy.

I hope to get a status report on halibut beach fishing from Kasilof and maybe a hooligan gillnetter in the Kenai soon to really get everyone pumped.
