I use an army duffel bag to put my gear in.  Strap it around my shoulders and wear it like a backpack, carry my kayak on one shoulder, pole in the other hand.  Once I get down to the water I rig up my yak, and put the bag in a hatch and I'm off.

I own a cart, but have really only used it a couple times for longer walks/trail.  Takes a little extra time to strap it up, make it level, ect.  I guess I need to practice with it more.

Anyways it's all about time for me it seems.

Ya sunrise...  :BangHead:

I'd imagine when the water level is higher up I wouldn't mind carrying the yak, but right now the water level is WAY down, I'm all for backing down with the truck, tossing the yak near the water's edge.   Honestly this will be the 3rd trip with this yak, so I'm sure I will develop a method that works for each occasion.

I have 3 vehicles that I can choose from, and what seems like a million places I'd love to try yak fishing at.   Each time I take it out, I will know what I need and what I don't.

730am at Ramp A.
Bringing myself some munchies, and eat while in between fish.
Weather looks reasonable nice, chilly at first, but nice!   :sunny:

Exactly...

OK 7:30 it is...  It takes me about an hour to get there, if you want to PM me your number I can give u a call if I'm running late (or when I'm 10 minutes away if you want to wait at your place)  Or i can just meet u out on the water near A...  Whatever works..

Hey P_S_R, it was good fishing with ya.  You kicked my arse out there.

After you started up the boat ramp, I decided to switch back to what I used last Friday.  I took off the snubber, and needle fish. Then doubled my weight and went with a plain ol' worm 30" back from the weight.   Nailed two more trout with this setup and then fought the wind and called it a day.  Both final trout swallowed the hook and required surgery to remove the hook.

Holy crap the wind was annoying!  It kept spinning me around and caused my trolling line to get tangled up on my stern handle grip.  I need to figure out a way to reduce this issue, as I had to paddle to shore, hop off and walk back there to correct it, twice!   The wind was stirring up the water and created some good chop.  Hit a few 2' wind waves with white caps.  The yak was stable, but the paddling took much more effort to to maintain course, and speed.

Don, another yakker that showed up at the same time as we did, was invited to fish with us. He's a funny guy!   He would pedal (troll) by in his tandem Hobie (front end about 10" above the water), with his fishing pole mounted in a Scotty, beer in his lap, and chowing on a cold dish of Jambalaya.  He was hooking fish left and right on the typical Ford fender trolling setup, tipped with a bright green needle fish and worm combo.   He limited out by noon and left.

I finally pulled off the water at 4:30pm and got home in time to clean the 3 trout,  and head off to a Halloween Party up the street.  Beer, chili, cookies, pumpkin pie, brownies, candy, and a hot fire outside was one great way to put back all the calories burned out there paddling.

Hey Insayin, was good to meet and fish with ya...

Ya, that wind was a bit of a nuisance.. Once I did finally put my rudder down, It was easy and the wind wasn't so bad for me.

Ya, that Don guy was a hoot, hopefully he'll check out the site.
