Great Job, Dave, did you go North or South once you got out of the hole?

I thinking Sunday, July 2.  Wind looks similarly iffy to Saturday.  Anyone else up for Sunday?
Saturday and Sunday look identical on Magic Seaweed, but Sunday looks significantly windier on NWS.  Of course, this could all change with tomorrow's forecast.  Just gotta keep watching it...

At this point is there anyone thinking about Sunday out of Depoe?  Right now it's beautiful out there.  Looks like maybe the earlier the better.

It was pretty nice out there today, seemed to get better as the day progressed.
smokeyangler and I went out this AM, north at first, then south of the buoy to finish.
I threw back 4 cabbies, one bigger than the one I kept.  Threw back the biggest ling I've ever caught from my yak, 2 other lings on the game clip, oh well.
If I was smart enough to figure it out, there are pictures.

Great pictures....

Agreed it seems to  have been progressively better as the day goes on.  I saw you guys out there near the whistle bouy and was itchin to have joined you.

Better save your biggest fish catchin for the ORC.

Looks like tomorrow is actually a no go.  Looks like winds are going to be an issue, I'm   Not going to chance it.

Great bite out there yesterday.  Three friends and I launched around 0630 and headed north a bit, but not too far for fear of the incoming N wind.  The water was choppy early on with a short period between 3-foot swells, but conditions seemed to improve as the morning went on.  Lingcod were my primary target for most of the morning, but it was tough to get away from the big black rockfish (clouds of them on the depthfinder over every pinnacle).  I ended up bonking a pair of 27 inch lings early on for fear of not having much time OTW.  I shouldn't have been so gun-shy, because it was after I filled my ling limit when the 30+ inch lings started biting.  I ended up releasing several nice lings up to around 32 inches.  Oh well, they'll be there for ORC!  I ended up taking a pair of lings, a 21" cabezon, and four blacks.

One of the blacks was the wormiest fish I've ever filleted.  Luckily the other three were relatively clean.

Cosmo, thanks again for the octo hookup!  I was struggling to get a cab until I tipped my jig with a bit of that.  Very first drop, and bam!

Wormy black.  Worms don't usually faze me much, but this was a bit excessive.

Worms :-X
I had to chuck one out that was that bad as well.
I was surprised as it wasn't the biggest black.
No worms in either of the lings or the cabbie.
I can handle some parasitic infestation, this was just too  much.

The blacks are pretty bad right now. I won't be keeping any in the near future. Yesterday I only kept one, cause it was an upgrade and wanted to measure it off the water. Fortunately it wasn't too bad. My son Zach kept a couple too, and my friend Andrew just doesn't care about the worms, lol. He says "cook'em up". We left him with the rock bass fillets. The lings and cabbies are good to go though!
