I am just assembling a few home made shrimp flies. I use nylon sparkly webbing and tinsel pipe cleaners from dollar tree. Each fly is under $.02 other than the hook, and takes about 45 seconds to make.

So far I am using whatever large hooks I happened to have kicking around. I have found quite a few haven't had any need to purchase any. These fish aren't very particular. If I were to buy some, I would get large eyes and long shanks.
