I got tired of wasting a lot of time untangling lures from my landing nets, and have been switching to rubber nets.  Not just cord nets with a thin rubber coating, which snag hooks almost as badly as straight cord nets.  100 percent rubber nets.  They've greatly reduced the amount of time I spend getting lures out of nets.  I've been able to replace the cord nets on some of my favorite landing nets with rubber nets for only $15-$18, which is way cheaper than buying a new net.  Has anybody found any disadvantages of rubber landing nets?

That's what I use in my drift boat for steelhead.  Can net them, get the hook out and not even pull them out of the water.

I have one all-rubber net, but I haven't been able to find any that are deep enough to use as a salmon net - although I'd sure like one.  Have you found any?
The fish bite twice a day - just before we get here and right after we leave.

They are quite heavy, especially with a longer handle. I have a mid size one which is better. But I love the snag free results. They float too.

Where are you getting replacement nets to upgrade to all rubber for 15-18 dollars?

At a local fly fishing store, where I could compare the size of the replacement nets to the frame of my net.  The nets are for a pretty upscale brand of landing nets, so I was pleasantly surprised at the low price of the replacement nets.  I haven't searched the internet for replacement nets.  It might be difficult to choose the correct size of replacement net when shopping on the internet.

Edit:  The replacement net I bought was from Fishpond Nets, and is available on the internet at http://fishpondusa.com/product/detail/nomad-replacement-rubber-net/2107 .

Fish barbless and you can leave your net alone.

Rubber nets are heavy and catch more wind. But they're snag free and better for the fish if you're C&R'ing. Rubber is all I use, won't have it any other way.

I use mine for a sail heading downwind. [emoji13]

I have one with measuring device inside, good for quick estimates.

How do they hold up in salt water?

Huh.  A rubber measuring device.  I'd like to see that.  Most people want to be able to claim that their fish, or whatever, is longer than it actually is, rather than shorter.

Don't think it stretches.

I have several nets which are cord nets with a thin coating of rubber, and I spend way too much time extracting lures from them.  100 percent rubber!  That's the way to go!
