I was pretty excited for this years salmon season, being my first season with a kayak and plans to fish seriously. I was pretty bummed when MA9 closed for kings early and the rest of the season was shore fishing only. Apparently, that's not a huge problem as I've managed to hook a couple of decent cohos this past week off the beach. Haven't seen any pinks at all but I can accept that if I can keep catching a coho or two a week until it closes. :) I wasn't going to post these but then I thought, who doesn't like looking at pictures of other people's catches?

In the pics, the small one was my first salmon ever, the one I got today was a bit heftier and really put up a fight. Lot of fun.

Wait till you get the downrigger set up and pull a good king with no weights in the way.  All fish are fun, having a big king run circles while trying to net it is really fun.

Nice job, where about are you shore casting?  Have you tried Point no Point yet?

I caught these close to home. Point Wilson.
Just at sunrise seems to be the magic hour (for me) though people fish there all day.
