Looks like I'll have to build some WAF on my day off and try and cash it in this coming weekend.  Anyone up for a dino hunt on the Willy this weekend?

Brian

Chum-a-thon this weekend?  Tides aren't the greatest, but we'll manage.  Crack of dawn 16 foot (!!!) high in Olympia, followed by an 8 foot low.  Or we can fish the incoming to a sunset high (14.5 feet).  Not sure where yet, but somewhere south sound or hood canal.

PDXer's, come join us.

Hmm, gas is almost cheap enough.  Keep me abreast of any plans and I'll see if I can make it.  Otherwise, I may stay local for some sturgeon.

Saturday.  We can go almost anywhere at this point.  From the reports I'm seeing, ALL the chum spots have turned on, with many bright fish being landed  The better yakable spots are probably Allyn, Oakland Bay, and Hoodsport.  I'll take this to a new thread ...

Fishing from the yak sounds fun after being bound to the shore last time. I've heard Hoodsport's gone nutty. Then again sure the crowds are the same. Last week's spot would be pretty fun from a yak though.. You decide Pole! ;D

Let's wait and see what the weather has in store.  But Allyn and Hoodsport are another 20-30 minutes from Shelton (Oakland Bay) if any of the PDX guys decide to come up, so Oakland Bay might be better for them.  I'm seriously thinking of hitting Minter for the pre-sunrise glowballing bite (no crowds!!! and I think Minter is open at night), then heading further south to Oakland Bay.

OK people, you heard Pole... it is the time to fight them dawgs... let's get our chum on!! I'll give the yakfisherman with the biggest fish of the day their choice of a RAM fly rod holder or RAM tube 2000. Second biggest fish gets whichever is left. Thanks to the good people at RAM here in Seattle for donating the products!

Now let's get into some fish and free swag!! :headbang:

Quick question...Does anyone have any ideas on decent kayak chum salmon fishing techniques and rigs???  All I know is "green".

You got the first part right, any color as long as it's green. PS regs are single point barbless so trolling or casting spinners, or spoons. Still fishing you can do an anchovy under a bobber. Basic idea w/ chum is they're striking out of pure aggression so think loud and irritating. Most areas we fish in the south sound is pretty shallow (average of about 15') so fly lining w/ a small sinker should do the trick. 15# mainline should be the minimum as they're toothy and tough.

Crud.. I just found out that my FW Wa fishing license won't cover most of the chum fishing we're talking about.  Maybe I'll just stick to some sturgeon fishing this weekend.

If you make it out our way I'll pitch in for your day license.  :angel10:

For some stupid reason I forgot about getting a day license on top of my FW season license.

Start collecting eggs.  I'll buy a dozen (2 if you got it).  That should defer a day license for you brah!
