Brian, if you come, or if any OR guys come, then we'll do Oakland Bay as it's closer to you.  If not, we'll probably still do Oakland Bay.   ;)

I'm down. Anyone want to kayak-pool from Seattle? I live just up Capitol Hill near REI so I'm a convenient pickup.  ;)

Do we really have to leave so early? (I'm fine with that if we need to).

I don't think we need to be there early on Saturday.  We'll miss the 2 hours before the high anyway and we'll be fishing the bay proper.  I was only thinking early when I thought perhaps I might hit Minter on the way.  But I think I'll hit Minter tomorrow and therefore would be down with hitting Oakland Bay later on Saturday (conservation of sleep rules are in effect!!!).

So here's my plan for Friday and Saturday.

Friday I'm hitting Minter early.  Likely hit it from shore at the crack of dawn and then see what the low looks like around 11.  If all goes right, my arms will be sore by then.   ;)  If low tide looks good to go, I'll launch just to check things out.

Saturday I'm down for a slower start at Oakland Bay.  Perhaps be ready to launch mid-morning, say 9-ish?  Or whatever you all want to do.  If someone wants to get their early, they could probably catch the last hour of the incoming right at sunrise.  I'll bring a BBQ out on the water if we want to have mandogs for a shorelunch somewhere.  Shoot, if you all want to get crazy we can start mid afternoon and fish up until the sunset high.

If Pole's driving we might be able to mash 3 of us in there. If he's got someone riding already I got ya covered.

Since polepole will be fishing Friday, I'd say we should let him tell us "the word on the water" and if it's not good and we should change location, or the river is better than the bay, or whatever, we can adapt as necessary.

Polepole do you think you be able to post a report Friday evening and a plan for Saturday?

I think I'm in for Saturday.  I just need to find a place that sells day licenses in the early morning to avoid having to drive to WA Friday night.  Any ideas of a tackle shop near the launch?

I'll keep my eye open for a Friday night update on exact launch location for Saturday morning.

There is a Walmart in Shelton that sells licenses ... according to the WDFW website.  Looks like they are open 24 hours too.

Looks like Shelton is my best bet for a day license and maybe some bait.

I know some places only sell licenses during 9-5 or so business hours... even if they are open longer.

I guess I'll need to make a few phone calls.

Yeah, well that wmart is only like 5 minutes from the launch ... so no big deal if you're running a few minutes after 9.

True. For places like Walmart, be sure to call & check if the dept that sells licenses will be open when you go there.
Last time, I picked up my day license at a Fred Meyer, but you have to go to the counter for exchanges & other assorted nonsense so even one person ahead of you in line can take an eternity... Otherwise, it's fairly convenient.
Of course, with the smaller stores just check that they'll be open at all at the time you plan on getting there.

Then again, sounds like you're covered. You might still want to call though, just to make sure they have what you need. Maybe I'm paranoid, but it's easy enough to call them!

Allen, do you have an address/map of that launch?

Head north on highway 3 out of Shelton about 4-5 miles.  You'll come to Bayshore golfcourse.  Just past it, there is a sign on the right side of the road that says something like "fishing" and you'll see a small gravel parking lot with a Blue Water John.  You'll need your WDFW parking pass here.  If you see the water again on your right, you went too far.  Wheels will come in handy as it's a short trail to the water.  You also need to heave your yak over a waist high fence too, so check it out first before loading it up and rolling over to the gate.

I'll be picking up some anchovies tomorrow. If anyone wants some, let me know. They come in packs of maybe 12-16? for $5 each.

Name the number and promise to pay and I'm happy to pick them up...

They won't be brined, but that didn't see to matter last weekend....
