Just for clarification for us newbies, it looks as Simpson reef extends clear down to the south cove below Cape Arago, is that correct?

I'm not an expert on the area but most people fish on the north side of the main Simpson Reef outcropping. I don't know what the technical bounds are. If you don't get a response here Roy can answer that at the captain's meeting Friday night.

I think you're right about most of us staying to the North.  I see no advantage for me to paddle past 100,000+ seals and sea lions to reach the southern end of the reef when there are plenty of fish to be caught up North.

I would agree, I made the mistake one time of pedaling to the south side and it was not better fishing than on the north side of it. If the conditions allow I will be fishing the north side.

Great, thanks! I have just been looking on Google Earth and some charts since I have never been there before. I keep hoping the forecast will improve more, especially the winds.

That's my understanding also. The south end of the reef has a lot of barely submerged structure, especially at low tide, so it is wise to maintain a high degree of situational awareness when fishing that area.
